Objectives:
to analyze burden predictors in mental health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods:
a quantitative study, collected between October and December 2020 through a sociodemographic questionnaire and Mental Health Service Burden Assessment Scale, in four services in a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, with 108 workers. Descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression of ordinary least squares were performed, in search of predictors for variation in the scale score.
Results:
it showed median work burden (2.03). Predictors: psychological or psychiatric follow-up; normal performance of activities during the pandemic; direct action with suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19; and belonging to the risk group (people over 60 years of age, diabetics, hypertensive, cardiac, respiratory problems) (p<0.05).
Conclusions:
working conditions observed during the pandemic, simultaneously with workers’ mental health care needs predict burden at work in health.

Objective:
to identify burnout and associated factors among nursing workers working in coping with COVID-19.
Methods:
a cross-sectional study, developed in four hospitals in a capital in southern Brazil. Sample (n=499) composed of nurses and nursing technicians/assistants, who answered an online form containing socio-occupational characterization and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis was performed, including multiple comparison tests.
Results:
burnout was identified in 60 (12%) workers, with no significant difference between hospitals, but with a difference in dimensions between them. In the emotional exhaustion dimension, a higher proportion (52.9%) was found at a moderate level. Prevalence of high level of professional achievement of 95.4% was identified.
Conclusion:
the presence of burnout was significantly prevalent among nurses and females. It reinforces the need to develop strategies to promote the health of nursing workers, providing improvement in health services and reduction of care and labor risks.

Objective:
To estimate the prevalence and factors associated with the burnout syndrome and quality of life among nursing professionals.
Methods:
Cross-sectional, analytical study, developed with 83 professionals in emergency care units in the city of Campina Grande-PB. A questionnaire was used to characterize the sample, the Maslach Burnout Inventory scale and the SF-36. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results:
Most professionals showed low professional effectiveness (78.3; n=65), average depersonalization (53.0%; n=44) and average emotional exhaustion (55.4%; n=46). There was a statistical difference between the scores of the syndrome and the pain (p=0.03), vitality (p=0.04) and social aspect (p=0.03); significant correlation between the syndrome and vitality (p<0.001), mental health (p=0.01) and general quality of life (p=0.04).
Conclusion:
The burnout syndrome has an influence on the outcome of quality of life of nursing professionals, being more prevalent among professionals with older age, high income and among nurses.

to verify Burnout Syndrome prevalence among nursing technicians of an adult Intensive Care Unit and associate prevalence with sociodemographic and clinical data.
Method:
a cross-sectional study carried out in an adult Intensive Care Unit of a large public hospital in southern Brazil, between March and April/2018. Prevalence was assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory.
Results:
122 nursing technicians participated (aged 39±2.5 years), 76% being women. Burnout Syndrome prevalence was 19.7% and 62.9%. There was a significant association between Burnout Syndrome and depression (p=0.004), as well as Burnout Syndrome and comorbidities (p=0.033), when less conservative criteria were adopted.
Conclusion:
the findings are relevant to professionals in this area and may contribute to adopting strategies to combat Burnout Syndrome.

Objective:
to analyze the psychic exhaustion experienced by nursing workers in nuclear medicine services.
Method:
a qualitative study that used the methodological assumptions of Psychodynamics of Work. The study was 12 nursing workers from two nuclear medicine services. For data analysis and treatment, Collective Subject Discourse was used with help of the software QualiQuantSoft®.
Results:
the psychic exhaustion experienced by nursing workers originates mainly from work organization, conditions and relationships, and can compromise the quality of care provided and workers’ quality of life. Psychic exhaustion is manifested by stress, tiredness and apathy in activities performed outside the work environment.
Final considerations:
individuals who work also live socially, so psychic health maintenance will impact on work activity. The service should include workers in the organization and offer spaces for dialogue and collective support.

Objective:
to identify workloads in nursing work and its association with nursing worker burnout.
Method:
a cross-sectional study, including 211 nursing workers from a university hospital, between July and August 2016. For the analysis, the descriptive statistics, Chi-Square Test, Fisher’s Exact Test and Mann Whitney U-Test were used.
Results:
the most evidenced loads were biological. A significant association was found between workloads and workers’ occupation, as well as a significant association between workloads and worker burnout. Burnout caused upper limb pain, neck and lumbar pain, lower limb pain, muscle spasm, lower limb edema, mental fatigue, headache, nervousness, and forgetfulness.
Conclusion:
workloads identification is a subsidy for the promotion of interventions that minimize the burnout generated to the health of the nursing worker.
