Objectives:
to evaluate the risk of postoperative complications in cardiac patients.
Methods:
an evaluative study using the Tuman Score on medical records of 70 adult patients who underwent cardiac surgery at a University Hospital. The R for Windows software was used for the analyses. Descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis were employed to verify the association between the risk score and complications. The relative risk between the Tuman Score and postoperative complications was obtained through Quasi-Poisson regression, with a 95% confidence interval.
Results:
the majority of the patients were male (58.57%), aged between 41-64 years (50%), who underwent myocardial revascularization (50%). These patients were associated with a lower risk of postoperative complications (p=0.003), (p=0.008), and (p=0.000), respectively. High-risk patients had pulmonary complications (RR=1.32, p=0.002) and neurological complications (RR=1.20, p=0.047).
Conclusions:
preoperative risk assessment promotes qualified care to reduce postoperative complications.

Objectives:
to analyze the concept of cardiovascular risk to support nursing practice.
Methods:
this is an analysis to define the concept of cardiovascular risk, through the use of eight steps of Walker’s and Avant’s framework, using a literature review in indexed scientific journals.
Results:
cardiovascular risk is defined in a broad and original way as a context of health and nursing care that makes it possible to identify modifiable (cardiometabolic, behavioral, psychosocial, cultural and occupational) and non-modifiable (biological) risk factors for cardiovascular diseases that act as early and interrelated markers, of multiple and heterogeneous etiology, predisposing to cardiovascular vulnerability.
Conclusions:
with the analysis and definition of the concept of cardiovascular risk, we realized that it will be possible to base nursing practice, with implications in clinical practice for identifying and reducing risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, with nursing relevance in the care of these subjects.

Objective:
to develop an ICNP® terminology subset for the care of people with heart failure.
Methods:
this is a methodological study, which used the theoretical framework of the Mid-Range Nursing Theory for Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, with the steps: Construction of nursing diagnoses/outcomes and interventions statements and Cross-mapping of statements constructed.
Results:
forty-two diagnosis/outcome statements and 179 nursing intervention statements were constructed, organized based on five theory concepts, with a higher prevalence of statements related to “Rehabilitative care”, “Psychosocial support for patients and families” and “Supervised cardiovascular rehabilitation program”.
Final considerations:
it was possible to build nursing diagnosis/outcome and intervention statements for developing a terminology subset for the care of people with heart failure, based on the chosen theory.

Objective:
To describe the scientific evidence of complications and the need for cardiovascular interventions in people hospitalized by Covid-19.
Method:
a scoping review carried out according to The Joanna Briggs Institute recommendations, in the MEDLINE, CINAHL, SCOPUS and Web of Science databases.
Results:
A total of 11 published studies from December of 2019 to April of 2020, presenting low levels of evidence were selected. The evidence described the myocardial injury as the most common cardiac complication reported in Covid-19, reported in approximately 8% to 12% of all severe individuals, with indications for oxygen therapy interventions, thrombotic disorders prevention and treatment, hemodynamic monitoring and assessment tests of cardiac function’s performance, along with biochemical markers of myocardial injury, yet not addressing nursing interventions.
Conclusion:
Cardiovascular complications and interventions have not shown consensus on the found evidence, requiring causal analysis by explanatory studies that support multi-professional clinical protocols in health.

Objective:
to identify the prevalence of smoking in nursing professionals and to determine the relationship of the habit with clinical and socio-demographic characteristics.
Method:
nursing professionals of a cardiovascular hospital answered a questionnaire on smoking and dependence degree, socio-demographic characteristics, personal and family background, smoking characteristics, motivational stages, depression, perceived and occupational stress. The relationship between the explanatory variables and smoking was investigated.
Results:
among 656 participants, 77.6% were non smokers, 12.2% former smokers, and 10.2% smokers. Most were female, with complete high school, Catholic, married, household income between three and five minimum wages, position as nursing assistant, had double shifts, and were responsible for family income. The nicotine dependence of smokers ranged from low to moderate.
Conclusion:
the study has shown low prevalence of smoking in nursing professionals. Education level, religion, marital status, job position, responsibility for family income, history of depression and alcoholism, chest "wheezing" and other symptoms were significantly associated with being a smoker or former smoker.

Objective:
To compare the distributions of measurements of the Dutch Fatigue Scale (DUFS), Dutch Exertion Fatigue Scale (DEFS), and Fatigue Pictogram tools, according to the New York Heart Association (NYHA) Functional Classification and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).
Method:
Methodological, cross-sectional study with 118 patients with heart failure. Variance analysis, Pearson's correlation, and Fisher's exact tests were carried out, with a significance level of 0.05.
Results:
There was an increase in the DUFS and DEFS means with worsening of the NYHA-FC (p<0.001, for both tools). Correlations among the LVEF resulted in positive and weak magnitude for the DEFS (r=0.18; p=0.05) and for the DUFS (r=0.16; p=0.08). Just the item A on the Fatigue Pictogram had an association with the NYHA-FC (p<0.001) and the LVEF (p=0.03).
Conclusion:
Three tools detected worsening in fatigue levels according to the illness severity assessed by the NYHA-FC.

Objective:
assess the influence of an intervention, comprised of counseling related to health and aerobic physical training for lowering pressure values, in anthropometric indicators and in the adjustment of biochemical parameters in individuals with hypertension.
Method:
intervention study of the randomized clinical trial variety, with 42 individuals. The intervention-group followed the protocol of health counseling, nutrition and physical activity.
Results:
two intervention groups were considered: intervention-group (a) and intervention-group (b). Intervention-group (a) showed significant decrease in measurements of systolic and diastolic arterial pressure, of high-density lipoprotein parameters, hip circumference values and waist-hip ratio. Intervention-group (b) presented significant decrease in systolic arterial pressure values.
Conclusion:
it was found that the health intervention in conjunction with physical activities were effective in decreasing and/or controlling values for pressure, biochemical and anthropometric indicators.
