Objectives:
to build and validate an educational booklet to promote the involvement of parents in labor and birth.
Methods:
methodological study developed in five stages: situational diagnosis; bibliographic survey; construction of illustrations, layout, design and texts; content and appearance validation by judges (25 experts) and calculation of the Flesch Readability Index; and validation with the target audience (12 parents). A minimum Content Validity Index of 0.80 was considered.
Results:
the booklet was entitled “Father Presence” and was developed in 11 topics. In Content and Appearance Validation, the Validity Index obtained an overall score of 0.97. Cronbach’s alpha was 0.92, indicating excellent reliability of its content. A global score of 74% for readability was obtained, considered easy to understand.
Conclusions:
the material was successful in the validation process, and it can be recommended for parents to use it during the prenatal period, promoting the inclusion of the partner and preparing them for labor and birth.

Objective:
to report an experience using the Team-Based Learning methodology for the development of a standard model for Birth Plans by health professionals.
Methods:
experience report on the use of Team-Based Learning to develop care technology, with the participation of 120 professionals from two municipalities located in the Midwest Region.
Results:
the use of Team-Based Learning in this experience enabled the construction of a Child Delivery Plan model based on the theoretical approach to the theme, a critical reflection exercise, an in-depth discussion, decision-making, after what a consensus was reached. The methodology enabled the (co) construction of knowledge in small groups, teamwork, accountability, and satisfaction among the participants.
Final Considerations:
the use of the TeamBased Learning methodology proved to be effective as a discussion strategy, building consensus and syntheses for the elaboration of a care technology aimed at the pregnancy-parturition period.

Objective:
to understand humanization practices in the parturitive course from the point of view of purperae and nurse-midwives.
Methods:
an exploratory, descriptive, qualitative research carried out in a maternity hospital in Bahia State. Semi-structured interviews were carried out, with a structured script applied to 11 mothers and 5 nurse-midwives from March to June 2019. Analysis followed Bardin’s content structure.
Results:
this study unveiled the importance of using soft care technologies, respect for female role, active participation and women’s autonomy as a positive impact on the parturition process.
Final considerations:
nurse-midwives are qualified professionals to assist women in labor and birth. They can favor the implantation and implementation of care with humanization practices, respect for women’s choices and incentive to the normal way of delivery with an expanded view of individual and multidisciplinary needs.

Objective:
To identify the meaning attributed by nursing technicians to good care practices based on scientific evidence used with the pregnant women during the dilation stage of labor.
Method:
A qualitative study, based on Grounded Theory principles. Twelve interviews with nursing technicians attending labor in the obstetric center of two public hospitals, in Florianópolis/SC, were performed, from August of 2016 to March of 2017. Data were analyzed using open, axial coding.
Results:
The implementation of good practices, for nursing technicians, means adequately performing their activities, providing humanized care to the pregnant woman, respecting her autonomy, promoting pain relief, and a peaceful labor.
Final Considerations:
An adequate number of technicians must be determined to maintain quality of care, and to complete nursing records in a more detailed and systematized manner.

Objective:
to analyze factors associated with Apgar of 5 minutes less than 7 of newborns of women selected for care at the Center for Normal Birth (ANC).
Method:
a descriptive cross-sectional study with data from 9,135 newborns collected between July 2001 and December 2012. The analysis used absolute and relative frequency frequencies and bivariate analysis using Pearson’s chi-square test or the exact Fisher.
Results:
fifty-three newborns (0.6%) had Apgar less than 7 in the 5th minute. The multivariate analysis found a positive association between low Apgar and gestational age less than 37 weeks, gestational pathologies and intercurrences in labor. The presence of the companion was a protective factor.
Conclusion:
the Normal Birth Center is a viable option for newborns of low risk women as long as the protocol for screening low-risk women is followed.

Objective:
To identify the types of institutional violence of childbirth reported by the woman, the birth companion and health professionals.
Method:
Integrative review that analyzed 33 articles in the LILACS, BDENF, INDEXPSI, regional SciELO, Scopus, Web Of Science and PubMed databases.
Results:
Women were the main violence rapporteur, with predominance of the psychological type. Precarious infrastructure and the imposition of professional decisions were identified by the companion as violence. For health professionals, performing procedures without consent does not characterize violence, but guarantees childbirth security.
Final considerations:
The most common types of violence in Brazilian maternity hospitals are psychological, physical and structural. Most of the time, violence is reported by women, although professionals also perceive and admit its perpetuation.
