Objective:
to analyze skin-to-skin contact practice in full-term newborns after birth.
Method:
a cross-sectional study carried out in São Paulo-SP with 78 mother-child binomials. Data were obtained from medical records and by non-participant observation. Maternal, neonatal and care conditions, length of skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding attachment were analyzed.
Results:
skin-to-skin contact was performed in 94.9% of births, with a mean length of 29 minutes. Births with intact perineum took longer, neonates with Apgar 10, without upper airway aspiration, assisted by a nurse-midwife and with neonatal assistance by a resident in pediatrics. The variables that favor breastfeeding attachment were perineal integrity, newborn with good vitality, without upper airway aspiration and who received professional assistance for breastfeeding attachment.
Conclusion:
skin-to-skin contact was performed in almost all births, but with less time than recommended as best practice.

Objective:
to understand, through dramatic therapeutic play, children’s experiences during maternal imprisonment.
Methods:
this is a phenomenological study in the light of Winnicott’s theoretical framework carried out in a philanthropic assistance center in the capital of São Paulo, with eight children aged three to ten who participated in an interview mediated by dramatic therapeutic play session.
Results:
two categories emerged: Children being without a mother: a storm with lightning and thunder and Children growing up without a mother: drizzle, heavy rain and some rays of sun.
Final considerations:
children revealed that, even in the absence of their mothers, it is possible to continue being and growing. Therapeutic play allowed children to give voice to their experiences, surrounded by concerns and limitations, in addition to unveiling an unknown social context.

Objective:
To analyze situations in which premature children are vulnerable in home care, in the first six months after hospital discharge.
Method:
Qualitative study, from the perspective of philosophical hermeneutics, carried out in a Brazilian city on the border. In-depth interviews were conducted, with a data analysis considering the method of interpretation of meanings. 18 mothers of premature children discharged from a hospital unit participated. 25 home visits and 56 calls were made.
Results:
The reports from the mothers express situations of vulnerability, concerns, needs for care, singularities of the development of the premature baby, and repercussions of institutional routines in home care.
Final considerations:
There are vulnerable circumstances in prematurity that reaffirm interconnected individual, social, and institutional dimensions. It is important to highlight that the institutional dimension involves the responsibility of health professionals not to increase individual and social vulnerabilities, but to promote care and seek to reduce situations that generate risks, uncertainties, concerns, and damages.

Objective:
to reveal the adaptive problems of the woman abandoned by the child’s parent after Congenital Zika Syndrome, in the light of Roy’s Adaptation Model.
Method:
a qualitative, descriptive study, based on Roy’s Adaptation Model, developed with six women abandoned by their child’s parent after Zika Congenital Syndrome diagnosis, through interview and Content Analysis technique.
Results:
adaptive problems appeared in nutrition, activity, rest, and protection patterns, due to limitations in self-care; self-concept, related to dissatisfaction with body image and personal being; in the role of transition role, through difficulties in taking over new roles and in interdependence, related to changes in affective needs.
Final considerations:
the overload of care for children with Congenital Zika Syndrome, added to the challenges of the abandoned woman by her child’s parent, led to adaptive problems, showing their main difficulties of coping.

Objectives:
to describe the process of construction and validation of an educational booklet to promote bonding between mothers and newborns in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Methods:
methodological study developed through data collection in the literature and with the target audience; construction of the booklet; qualification of the material through validation by judges (health and communication experts/designer) and assessment by the target audience (mothers of at-risk newborns). Data were analyzed descriptively.
Results:
booklet content was validated, obtaining an overall Content Validity Index of 0.92. Appearance was rated “Superior” with 80% percentage. Mothers performed an assessment with 100% agreement between the items.
Conclusions:
the booklet was validated in all domains assessed and can be used by mothers with children hospitalized in the Neonatal Unit.

Objective:
To analyze maternal care for siblings of preterm babies hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Method:
Qualitative research using symbolic interactionism as a theoretical reference and narrative research as a methodological reference. Ten mothers were surveyed through semi-structured interviews.
Results:
Three thematic units emerged from the analysis of data: “social support in the sharing of child care”; “promotion of adaptation to the arrival of a sibling” and “maternal feelings and coping”.
Final considerations:
Care for the premature child’s sibling is developed under mothers’ physical distance from him/her, justified by the need to remain close to the premature child due to risks and fragility related to the condition.

Objective:
To discuss the process of transition to motherhood and mothering of women who are wheelchair users, from the perspective of Afaf Ibrahim Meleis.
Method:
Qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study conducted with six women in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The Life Narrative method was used, with thematic analysis in the light of Transitions Theory.
Results:
Developmental and situational transitions occurred and were influenced by personal, community and social factor. Moved mainly by ignorance and prejudice of family members and of the social network, these factors were not barriers for motherhood and mothering.
Final Considerations:
The reproductive rights of women with disabilities must be respected and, for this, inclusive policies focused on women with disabilities should be adopted.

Objective:
To describe a breastfeeding theory based on King's Conceptual System.
Method:
Theoretical study that used analysis of concept, assertion synthesis, and derivation of theory for the creation of a new theory.
Results:
King's system components were associated with elements of the breastfeeding process and a middle-range theory was created, which describes, explains, predicts, and prescribes breastfeeding by analyzing factors that precede and affect it, as well as their consequences on the breastfeeding process.
Conclusion:
The Breastfeeding Interactive Model is abstract enough to be applied in different social, cultural, political, and economic contexts, because it conceptualizes breastfeeding in systemic, dynamic, and procedural aspects. Based on a conceptual model of nursing, it contributes to the scientific construction of the subject; however it can also potentially be applied by other professionals involved in breastfeeding assistance.
