Objectives:
to evaluate the burden and its relationship with the sociodemographic characteristics of caregivers of people with sequelae of stroke.
Methods:
a cross-sectional, exploratory, and quantitative study was conducted with 151 caregivers of people with sequelae of stroke, through home interviews between September and December 2017. Results: there was a general mean of low burden. The items that indicated the worst changes were: “My time for social activities with friends,” “My time for family activities,” “My ability to cope with stress,” and “My physical functioning.” There was an association of burden with the female sex and with caregivers who have been assisting for longer.
Conclusions:
the results allow us to reflect on the need to create a policy aimed at family caregivers to reduce the impact of care delivery.

Objectives:
to unveil the experience of mothers of children who had a cerebrovascular accident due to sickle cell disease.
Methods:
qualitative, phenomenological research based on Martin Heidegger’s philosophical framework. Ten mothers participated in the Association of People with Sickle Cell Disease of Minas Gerais. For the interpretative analysis of the reports, we performed the vague and medium understanding followed by hermeneutics.
Results:
the study revealed that, for the mother, the experience means remembering the diagnosis of the disease that had a significant impact. These women are in the center of care, and the consequences of stroke cause suffering. In this wandering, they seek to educate their children as close as possible to normal.
Final Considerations:
the study pointed out that we should look at these mothers seeking to see the multiple facets of their existence to the challenge of caring for the existential complexity of the human being.

Objective:
development and validation the content of a nursing care protocol with educational interventions for family caregivers of elderly people after stroke.
Methods:
a methodological study conducted in three stages: (1) protocol development through literature review; (2) pretest with multidisciplinary team, analyzed with literature articulation; (3) protocol validation by the Delphi Technique.
Results:
the protocol was structured in the following areas: Disease Guidelines; Emotional Support; Using the Health Care Network; Diet; Airways; Medications; Hygiene; Skin Care; Disposal; Dressing/Undressing; Positioning and Transfer; Fall Prevention. In the pretest, eight experts assessed protocol clarity and content. In validation, there were two rounds by the Delphi Technique. The validated protocol consisted of 12 domains, containing 42 items and 240 care guidelines.
Conclusion:
the protocol qualifies the transition of care after hospital discharge assisting nurses in home care practice.

Objectives:
to understand how the empowerment of family caregivers of people with stroke occurs in the hospital environment.
Methods:
a qualitative research, participatory action research, articulated with Paulo Freire’s Research Itinerary, developed in April 2018 with family caregivers, in a Stroke Unit.
Results:
three predominant codes were coded: the need for empowerment and autonomy to experience the care situation; the challenges experienced in becoming a caregiver; and family support. Participants presented a lack of information inherent to the care process, with distancing from empowerment to perform the function in dehospitalization. Dialogue revealed empowerment as a possibility for critical awareness and skill development.
Conclusions:
it highlights the importance of directing health promotion for caregivers, inserting them in the care process, recognizing their needs and intensifying practices that promote empowerment for care, bypassing curative actions.

Objective:
To describe relationships between the ECPICID-AVC scale factors and the NANDA-I domains, classes, and Nursing Diagnoses (NDs).
Method:
Cross-mapping study between the NANDA-I taxonomy and ECPICID-AVC scale was constructed based on the eight ECPICID-AVC scale factors and the 13 NANDA-I domains. A descriptive analysis was performed to present the mapped elements.
Results:
Areas of similarity and intersection were found between the eight ECPICID-AVC factors and nine NANDA-I domains, 19 classes, and 72 NDs. All scale factors were mapped with the Domain 1/Health Promotion, Class 2/Health Management and the ND “Frail elderly syndrome”.
Final considerations:
The ECPICID-AVC scale factors were mapped with nine domains, their classes and diagnoses. This study demonstrates the importance of identifying nursing diagnoses and their relationship with factors that evaluate caregiving capacity. The ECPICID-AVC can help nurses generate nursing diagnoses regarding the caregiver’s needs and their capacities related to care to focus such needs.

Objective:
to identify in the scientific literature the educational technologies used in the health education process related to stroke.
Method:
integrative review, whose eligibility criteria of the articles were: match the keywords “health education” and “stroke”; be a research paper; be in Portuguese, English and Spanish; be available electronically in the databases LILACS, PubMed/Medline, Scopus and CINAHL; year of publication between 2000 and 2016.
Results:
24 publications were found. The analysis was carried out by means of analytical and interpretive readings. There were many educational technologies used in the health education process for stroke.
Final considerations:
the printed material for general public stood out, aiming to the recognition of alert signs of the disease and the emergency decision-making before suspicious cases of the disease.

Objective:
To elaborate and implement, through an educational intervention with the nursing team of the Emergency Unit, strategies that contribute to the management of elderly people suspected/affected by Stroke.
Method:
Action research with eighteen nursing professionals working in the Emergency Unit of a reference hospital. The data were collected through five pedagogical workshops and systematized through the thematic analysis.
Results:
After a situational analysis and identification of the difficulties in the management of these elderly, a synthesis chart was prepared with strategic actions, responsible professionals and perspectives for implementation in the short, medium and long term. Short-term strategies had, for the most part, immediate implementation; the others were agreed on the need for further implementation.
Final considerations:
The educational intervention allowed the construction of strategies that were implemented or agreed with the management for later applicability, sensitizing the group regarding the importance of the qualification and prompt care in the management of the elderly suspected/affected by Stroke.
