Objectives:
to reflect on the daily life of family members dependent on psychoactive substances and the role of health professionals in Primary Care.
Methods:
a descriptive investigation outlined in Maffesoli’s phenomenological approach, carried out at a Basic Health Unit in Minas Gerais with eight family members dependent on psychoactive substances. Sociodemographic characterization data and in-depth interviews were collected and analyzed with support of NVivo Pro11® software. All ethical and legal aspects were met.
Results:
physicians were the professionals most mentioned in participants’ statements, who took on a dubious role with other health professionals: welcoming (positive perceptions about care received) and neglect (negative perceptions).
Final Considerations:
dependence on psychoactive substances imposes a burden on persons, their family members and health professionals. The role of establishing good relationships in the triad professionals-users-family members of primary care is inseparable in favor of treatment and preservation of their mental health.

Objective:
to apprehend the guidelines provided by the interdisciplinary team to the user’s family member at a Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Álcool e Drogas (Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Drugs).
Methods:
descriptive-exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, carried out in a Psychosocial Care Center for alcohol and drugs in the southern region of Brazil, using the Psychiatric Reform as a conceptual basis. Data collection took place from June to August of 2019 through semi-structured interviews with a multidisciplinary team. The data were organized and operationalized in the IRAMUTEQ® software, and submitted to content analysis, thematic modality.
Results:
two classes emerged: “Guidelines referring to moments of crisis and the family members’ arrival to the service” and “Difficult factors and strategies to enhance the guidance to family members”.
Final Considerations:
The guidelines focus on pathology and the service itself. Participants highlighted embracement, the group for families, qualified listening, and cooperation with primary care as ways to enhance the service to families.

Objective:
to estimate prevalence and factors associated with the consumption of psychoactive substances among health care workers in hospitals.
Method:
cross-sectional study, with a sample of 289 health care professionals in a large hospital in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil.
Results:
243 (84.1%) reported consumption of psychoactive substances; 124 (86.7%) of professionals who classed their level of satisfaction as moderate had double the chance (OR = 1.98 CI95% 1.02- 3.85) of consuming psychoactive substances; 40 (93%) of those with low level of satisfaction showed a four times higher chance (OR = 4.05 CI95% 1.15-14.26) of consumption; and 72 (75.8%) of those who reported a “good” state of health before work had a 54% lower chance of consumption (OR= 0.46 CI95% 0.234-0919).
Conclusion:
consumption of psychoactive substances was associated with factors related to level of job satisfaction and perceived health status before work

Objective:
to analyze the discourse of psychoactive substance users undergoing treatment regarding their image of themselves as drug dependent subjects, of other dependents and the social position assumed by them.
Method:
qualitative study conducted between March and September of 2016 through a semi-structured interview and drawings, based on the theoretical-methodological reference of French Discourse Analysis. Participation of 12 drug dependent subjects undergoing treatment in the service that substitutes the asylum.
Results:
The images that psychoactive substance dependents have of themselves and of chemically dependent subjects are associated with the image of a negative, diabolical, transgressive, sick and socially excluded individual.
Final considerations:
The ideological effects of meanings produced by users’ discourses reproduce the biological and moral model. Health professionals, including nurses, need to invest in discourses that address the psychosocial model to demythologize this stigmatizing image and modify their work practice.

Objective:
To understand what factors motivate people to reduce or stop tobacco use and what difficulties they face in this process.
Method:
Qualitative, empirical and interpretative research that used a focal group technique for data collection and Discourse Analysis as a theoretical reference for analysis.
Results:
The responses centered on the following aspects: motivation for reduction or cessation of smoking, family and community support received during treatment, benefits from cessation of tobacco, difficulties encountered and strategies for overcoming triggers.
Final Considerations:
The results showed that the users expressed their desire for cessation of tobacco use and that to achieve this goal, family and group support, professional help and changing habits are key factors for this process.

Objective:
to characterize the sociodemographic and psychiatric profile of women users of psychoactive substances in treatment for drug addiction.
Method:
descriptive study of quantitative approach performed with women attended at a Psychosocial Care Center for Users of Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAPS ad) from the interior of São Paulo State.
Results:
the sample consisted of 349 adult women, single, low educational level and unemployed, users of alcohol, cocaine, crack and tranquillizers. Among the consequences of use include withdrawal syndrome, overdose, depressive and suicidal symptoms. Most were referred for treatment by the family or health services. Almost 20% of these women had previously started treatments.
Conclusion:
The results suggest marked morbidity and high levels of psychosocial vulnerability, which require thorough investigation at the patient’s admission, as well as damage associated with use, withdrawal symptoms and depressive symptoms.

Objective:
to investigate the criteria used by health professionals to identify the phase of consumption of alcohol and drug users, and actions directed to their care.
Method:
a qualitative study developed with 14 professionals from a Brazilian Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Drugs (Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Álcool e Drogas) based in the south of the country. Data were collected in June 2017 through semi-structured interviews and then submitted to thematic analysis.
Results:
the criteria used by the professionals were: periodicity of use; amount and type of drug used; repercussions of misuse; and place that the drug occupies in the person’s life. The actions developed were orientation and referral to support groups, therapeutic workshops and individual care.
Final considerations:
the chronic nature of alcohol/drug use/dependence requires specific care in each phase, and objective criteria to identify and intervene in early phases, aiming at the prevention of chemical dependence.
