Objective:
to understand the family dynamics in face of the reality of the elderly living alone.
Method:
study of qualitative approach with theoretical reference of symbolic interactionism that involved interviews with families. Data were analyzed by thematic analysis.
Results:
six families participated in the study. The discourse analysis originated the following categories: The family respecting their decision making; The family organizing itself to the process of living alone after the age of 80 years; The family experiencing the freedom of living alone.
Conclusion:
in this study, it was possible to identify the facilitation of the possibility of living alone with preparation and agreements between the family during the family life cycle, leading to the feeling of freedom and quality of life of all members. Nursing, as a science responsible for elaborating care strategies, should work together with families to assist in the planning of care plans based on the individual social reality of the family.

Objective:
to reflect on nursing education, taking into account the principles of complex thinking proposed by Morin.
Method:
reflection based on the principles of the complexity theory by Edgar Morin.
Results:
the application of complexity in teaching proposes an emancipatory education based on questioning and social transformation. It comprises the education of nurses who interact with others as a characteristic of their work. It is necessary to prepare students to develop critical and reflective attitudes and actions to overcome the fragmentation and linearity of knowledge.
Conclusion:
nursing care has been based on a reductionist assistance, reflecting the Cartesian model. Thus, nursing education seeks to comprise shared knowledge and experiences so that no subject or professional overpowers another, accepting the uniqueness of professionals and patients.

Objectives:
to construct and validate an educational technology in comic book format about the human papillomavirus vaccine aimed at adolescents.
Methods:
a methodological study, with a quantitative approach, through the agreement method. It was carried out in two phases: educational technology construction and content validity. Participants are expert judges in the health field. Data collection took place in a virtual environment, through a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by calculating the Content Validity Index. A Content Validity Index of at least 80% was accepted.
Results:
the comic book’s overall Content Validity Index was 82%, reaching the minimum limit established to be validated.
Conclusions:
comics are fundamental in the teaching-learning process, aiming to catch adolescents’ attention. Therefore, it is characterized as a valid tool to inform, in a playful manner, about the human papillomavirus vaccine.

Objective:
To characterize nursing care management strategies for addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Method:
A descriptive, qualitative study conducted with 22 nurse professionals at a University Hospital in Southern Brazil. Data collection through interviews in June and August 2021, analyzed according to Bardin’s Content Analysis and the theoretical framework of complex thinking.
Results:
The identified strategies were organized into four categories: Reorganization of health services; People management and emergency admission; Multiprofessional articulation; and Bedside nursing care.
Final Considerations:
Professional performance revealed a complex interplay between leadership and care management practices, even in the face of working condition restrictions, and were understood as crucial in the pandemic scenario.

Objectives:
To identify in the scientific literature the prevalence, diagnostic methods, and exposure variables of latent infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis in healthcare workers.
Methods:
An integrative review of the scientific literature based on the following review question: What are the available scientific evidence in the literature that address the prevalence of latent infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis in healthcare workers and its association with possible risk factors among these workers?
Results:
Being a physician or nurse, being older, and being male were generally associated with higher prevalences. The study also showed that interferon-gamma release assays were more commonly used as a diagnostic method compared to skin tests.
Conclusions:
More studies are needed regarding the epidemiology of latent infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the context of healthcare workers, aiming for higher impact actions that contribute to the reduction of tuberculosis worldwide.

Objective:
to analyze the discourses about the care provided by nurses operating in Specialized HIV/Aids Outpatient Services in four public institutions of the city of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.
Method:
descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach, which used as a method the discourse analysis.
Results:
when titling the “care as negative”, such title came from the analogy proposed by Freud (1912) with the photographic negative, represented by what that care can configure from the unconscious movement, since nurses did not perceive themselves in the care actions developed by supporting the work of other occupational categories, contributing to maintain the ideology of biomedicine.
Conclusion:
it is necessary to justify and theorize a nursing clinical practice from epistemological issues of the profession, in such a way that nurses can understand their relevance within the care provided.

Objectives:
to analyze the practices of a home care team and their implications for caregivers’ performance.
Methods:
qualitative study with data obtained from observation of 21 users, 30 caregivers and 6 professionals from the home health care service in a municipality in Minas Gerais, from February to June 2018. The material was analyzed from the perspective of discourse analysis according to Michel Foucault.
Results:
team interference upon caregivers is exercised by disciplinary practices and prescriptive, authoritative and surveilling behaviors. The team’s knowledge-power relationship determines caregivers’ acceptance through convincing or through difficulty of understanding assigned orientations. Educational practices would enable caregivers to be constituted as active, participative, empowered and reflective subjects.
Final Considerations:
team practices interfere with caregivers’ ways of acting and being and they have implications in objectification and subjectification processes.

Objectives:
to describe the contribution of pregnant women to the construction and evaluation of educational technology.
Methods:
a participatory study developed in three stages, which occurred between March 2018 and June 2019 for identifying the content, construction, and evaluation of the comic. Non-directive interviews were conducted in educational groups with 34 pregnant women. After the comic was built by a team, including a designer, an instrument was applied to 41 pregnant women to evaluate the items Objectives, Organization, Writing style, Appearance, and Motivation.
Results:
the comic contains 40 pages of contents, illustrations, and quizzes (word search, cross-puzzle, seven mistakes, etc). The pregnant women evaluated it as easy to understand, self-explanatory, aesthetically attractive, and capable of motivating good care practices during pregnancy, obtaining a minimum agreement of 92.1%.
Final Considerations:
the innovation of the educational technology consisted of incorporating the voices of pregnant women in prenatal care, with the potential to stimulate reflections and the learning process of this target audience.

Objective:
To analyze the correlation between family functionality and the quality of life of the elderly.
Method:
Sectional and correlational study conducted with 692 Brazilian elderly between July and October 2020. The elderly filled three instruments: biosociodemographic, family APGAR and WHOQOL-Old. The tests Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson correlation, and linear regression analyzed the data. The study considered a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05) for all analyses.
Results:
The elderly with mild and severe family dysfunction presented worse quality of life when compared to the elderly with a functional family. All facets of quality of life correlated positively with family functionality.
Conclusion:
Family functionality is positively correlated with the quality of life of the elderly, therefore requiring the inclusion of the family in health care plans to identify potential family stressors early and plan interventions to solve the problems raised.

Objective:
to analyze the prenatal follow-up of high-risk pregnancy in the public service.
Method:
an analytical cross-sectional study carried out in a public maternity hospital in the South of Brazil, during the hospitalization of 319 postpartum women using a semi-structured tool for transcription of the prenatal card records and interview. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test (p≤0.05).
Results:
the adequacy of prenatal care was high (74%); 22.6% intermediate; 3.4% inefficient. Prenatal care had high coverage (100%), early onset (81.5%) and six or more visits (92.4%), but (77.4%) did not receive information about gestational disease and examinations (69.3%). There was statistical significance between the quality of prenatal care and the place of prenatal care (p=0.005).
Conclusion:
the need to implement a specific protocol for high-risk gestation and continuous education to the teams was evidenced.

Objective:
to analyze the perception of elderly women about sexuality and practice of nursing care in this context.
Method:
a descriptive qualitative study. Fifty elderly women from Guanambi City – Bahia State were interviewed in 2016. Data collection technique was direct interview by using an unstructured script. Analysis of the semantic content described was carried out, and two empirical categories: the elderly woman’s view of nursing care in the promotion of sexual health and experience of sexuality in the elderly; and nursing care in the context of women’s aging.
Results:
it has been noted that the elderly women are afraid to talk about sexuality, especially with health professionals. By influences of society, they often exclude this issue of health care for elderly women.
Final considerations:
changes must be thought about assistance provided in relation to sexuality.

Objective:
to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile application for cell phones in the adherence of pregnant women to prenatal consultations.
Method:
a randomized controlled clinical trial, simple-blind with two parallel groups, conducted from January to December 2018. Data collection was carried out through a structured interview at the end of the third trimester of pregnancy. For analysis, Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney tests were used. The sample consisted of 88 pregnant women from 2 Family Health Strategies in Northeast Brazil. Participants were randomized into two groups: intervention (IG), who used the application, and control (CG), who attended prenatal consultations.
Results:
pregnant women who used the application (IG) attended a greater number of consultations when compared to participants in the CG, identifying a statistical difference between the groups (p<0.05).
Conclusion:
the application showed to be an effective health technology to improve adherence to prenatal care. Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials: RBR-74SNST.

Objective:
to construct and validate an educational booklet for the elderly, with guidelines on sleep hygiene.
Method:
a methodological research with booklet construction; validation by 22 judges and evaluation by 22 elderly people. The content was extracted from the guidelines of the Brazilian Sleep Association and the elderly health manual of the Human Rights Office. The item with Content Validity Index (CVI) greater than 0.8 or whose concordance ratio verified with the Binomial Test was valid and statistically equal to or greater than 80%.
Results:
the booklet presented 14 guidelines for the elderly about sleep hygiene distributed over 25 pages. All items were evaluated as relevant. The CVI had an average of 0.95 by the judges and 0.95 by the elderly.
Conclusion:
the booklet was constructed and validated as to its content and appearance. It can be used by health professionals in the various services with the elderly.
