Objective:
To analyze the configuration of power relations among the multiprofessional team in the bedside round process in the hospital.
Methods:
Qualitative research with data analyzed through discourse analysis, based on Michel Foucault’s theoretical framework. From September to December 2022, we conducted interviews and field observations with the multiprofessional team at a hospital in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, as well as qualitative, semi-structured interviews with 37 professionals.
Results:
The participants pointed out that the experiences of the professionals involved in bedside rounds depend on how the physician conducts the process, and the physician-centered process makes it difficult for other professionals in the team to participate.
Final considerations:
The way hospitals organize bedside rounds does not promote knowledge articulation for their professionals. It hinders the circulation of power and harms interdisciplinary work in a process that maintains the physician as the main actor in clinical decisions.

Objectives:
to assess pain management during labor.
Methods:
a cross-sectional study was carried out by reviewing medical records and conducting postpartum interviews. Prevalence and effectiveness of analgesia were assessed.
Results:
the prevalence of non-pharmacological analgesia was 61.86% of 215 women in labor in Obstetric Center and 82.51% of 62 in midwife-led unit. Prevalence of severe pain, on the Visual Analogue Scale, before and after non-pharmacological analgesia, was from 92.16% to 64.04% (p=0.00) in Obstetric Center and from 85.96% to 52.63% (p=0.01) in midwife-led unit. Prevalence of pharmacological analgesia in Obstetric Centers was 15.81%, with no variation in severe pain (p=0.57). Patients’ request for analgesia was associated with education (p=0.00) and pain intensity (p=0.02).
Conclusions:
non-pharmacological analgesia improved pain intensity. Prevalence of pharmacological analgesic prescription was lower than that identified in developed countries. Pain management needs to consider the preferences and needs of women in labor.

Objective:
To identify the frequency of notifications of interpersonal violence in Espírito Santo from 2011 to 2018, and the factors associated with this issue.
Methods:
This is a cross-sectional study in which all cases of interpersonal violence from the Information System for Notifiable Diseases in the state of Espírito Santo during the period from 2011 to 2018 were analyzed. Absolute and relative frequencies and 95% confidence intervals were calculated, as well as Poisson regression.
Results:
During the analyzed period, 27,277 cases were reported in Espírito Santo (P: 75%; 95% CI: 74.5-75.4), being more prevalent among females, children, and the elderly, individuals of black/mixed race, people without disabilities, and residents of urban areas. Regarding the perpetrator, there was a higher prevalence of individuals aged 25 years and older, males, with a current or former intimate partner relationship with the victim, and suspected alcohol use at the time of the aggression. In terms of the characteristics of the aggression, there was a higher prevalence of repeat violence, involving a single aggressor, and occurring in the residence.
Conclusions:
The notification of interpersonal violence in Espírito Santo showed a high prevalence and was associated with characteristics of the victim, aggressor, and event. This scenario reinforces the need for interventions such as professional qualification, expansion of intersectoral actions, and reformulation of public policies.

Objectives:
to establish the prevalence of salvage of central venous catheters in newborns with bloodstream infection caused by coagulase-negative staphylococci.
Methods:
retrospective cross-sectional study with 136 newborns admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit between 2011 and 2017. The total of 143 infection events undergoing antibiotic therapy were evaluated.
Results:
among the 143 infection events, 39 catheters in which antibiotic therapy was used were saved and in 69 cases, the device was removed. Positive central blood culture and single lumen catheter were factors associated with salvage failure. The probability of salvage decreased with infections diagnosed from 15 days of using the catheter. Negative blood culture raised the chance of salvage by fourfold.
Conclusions:
the use of antibiotic therapy in the treatment of infections resulted in a low prevalence of salvage of the central venous catheter. The probability of salvage was associated with variables of the device.

Objective:
To reflect on the main characteristics and recommendations of Incident Reporting Systems, discuss the population’s participation in reporting, and point out challenges in the Brazilian system.
Method:
Reflection study, based on Ordinance No. 529/13, which instituted the National Patient Safety Program, under Collegiate Board Resolution (CBR) No. 36/13; reflections by experts were added.
Results:
Reporting systems are a source for learning and monitoring, allow early detection of incidents, investigations and, mainly, the generation of recommendations prior to recurrences, in addition to raising information for patients and relatives. There is little participation of the population in the reporting, regardless of the type of system and characteristics such as confidentiality, anonymity, and mandatory nature.
Final Considerations:
In Brazil, although reporting is mandatory, there is an urgency to advance the involvement and participation of the population, professionals, and institutions. To simplify data entry by improving the interface and importing data from the reporting system is an objective to be achieved.

Method:
This is a descriptive-interpretative study, with a qualitative approach, obtaining data from 19 nursing interns from a public university in Lima-Perú, using 3 focus groups.
Results:
Three categories were structured: considering the importance of the nursing teacher in their training; experiencing complexity in training for the prevention and promotion of health in the community; and considering the preventive-promotional area as a future professional practice.
Final Considerations:
The students perceived the complexity of community practice in the prevention and promotion of health. They stated that teachers and students should know the context where they develop their practices and that teacher’s exercise leadership in the community. The inclination of some nursing interns for their future professional practice in this area was also evident.

Objectives:
to analyze the scientific production of nurses regarding the costs of procedures/interventions performed by nursing professionals.
Methods:
integrative literature review with a sample of 17 primary articles selected from the CINAHL, Scopus, EMBASE databases and the PubMed portal.
Results:
all studies were conducted in hospitals, with quantitative, exploratory-descriptive studies, considering the case study method, with the description of costs method adopted, and the number of Brazilian publications stood out (12; 70.58%). The calculation of direct costs was most common due to the absence/difficulty of accessing information in the studied hospitals. This made it impossible to obtain the indirect costs that would be necessary for the composition of the total cost.
Conclusions:
it was shown that studies about the cost of procedures/interventions are still scarce, often covering only the calculation of direct costs. Nurses need to develop studies on such costs using the same methodology in different contexts of health care.

Objective:
to analyze the spatial distribution of elder abuse in Ribeirão Preto-SP, according to victims’ place of residence and event.
Method:
an ecological study that analyzed 1,153 elder abuse police reports (2009 to 2013). Local gross and empirical Bayesian rates and Local Moran’s I were calculated.
Results:
there was a heterogeneous distribution of concentration of sectors with a high incidence rate surrounded by neighbors with also high rates, considering place of residence. In contrast, analysis by place of occurrence showed a greater concentration in the central areas of the municipality. More than 80% of cases of violence occurred at their own homes and with spatial dependence on distribution by occurrence up to a 5,000 m distance from their places of residence.
Conclusion:
data reinforce that violence is a complex phenomenon, affecting several social strata, including in central urban areas and in elderly people families’ own context.
