Objective:
to investigate what is the best anthropometric predictor of arterial hypertension among private school students.
Method:
this was a cross-sectional study with 286 students between the ages of 10 and 14 from two private schools in the city of Paranavaí, Paraná, Brazil. The following variables were analyzed: body mass index, waist circumference and blood pressure. Statistical analysis was conducted with Pearson’s partial correlation test and multivariate logistic regression, with p<0.05.
Results:
both anthropometric indicators displayed weak correlation with systolic and diastolic levels, with coeffi cients (r) ranging from 0.27 to 0.36 (p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that the only anthropometric indicator associated with arterial hypertension was waist circumference (OR= 2.3; 95% CI: 1.1-4.5), regardless of age or gender.
Conclusion:
this age group, waist circumference appeared to be a better predictor for arterial hypertension than body mass index.

Objective:
this qualitative study aimed to analyze the perceptions of primary health care management nurses on the nursing process.
Method:
data were collected through interviews and analyzed by the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin’s theoretical framework.
Results:
managers recognize the importance of the nursing process, although its implementation was not a priority at the time of the interviews. A conceptual diffi culty and a lack of understanding that the implementation of the care methodology should be a cross-departmental action in the local healthcare management were clearly observed.
Conclusion:
managers should have their perspectives broadened concerning the relevance of the nursing process and the professional training. The active participation of legislative nursing bodies, local healthcare management and the federal government may open the way for the effective implementation of the nursing process.

Method:
the scale was tested regarding conceptual, item, semantic, and operational equivalence.
Results:
content validation was conducted by an expert committee with a minimum consensus level of 80%. This process resulted in a 35-item scale divided into 6 factors. The experts reached 100% consensus on the scale’s clarity of language, practical pertinence and theoretical relevance, as well as on the need for excluding one factor. Data were collected in 2013 in the city of Londrina, Paraná, Brazil.
Conclusion:
the instrument was cross-culturally adapted to Brazilian Portuguese and presented satisfactory content validity. We propose further studies on the scale’s psychometric properties, such as construct validity, internal consistency and reliability.

Objectives:
to develop a Middle-Range Theory for the Risk for imbalanced blood pressure pattern among incarcerated women.
Methods:
theoretical development study to obtain the theoretical-causal validity of the Nursing Diagnosis Risk for unstable blood pressure. The Middle-Range Theory was developed according to six stages: establishment of the approach to developing the theory; definition of the conceptual models to be later analyzed; definition of the main conceptions; a pictorial diagram; propositions; causal relationships and evidence for practice.
Results:
two attributes and 20 antecedents related to imbalanced blood pressure were identified, a pictorial diagram was developed, and nine theoretical propositions were presented.
Conclusions:
the theory developed here favors the diagnostic reasoning of nurses and contributes to planning actions to promote the cardiovascular health of incarcerated women. A new proposition for the diagnosis of Risk for unstable blood pressure was also structured with a new title, definition, and etiological factors.

Objectives:
to estimate the prevalence of depressive levels and their associated factors among transvestite and transsexual individuals.
Methods:
this cross-sectional study involved 58 participants assisted by non-governmental organizations. The Beck Depression Inventory was utilized to assess levels of depression, complemented by a sociodemographic questionnaire and a questionnaire on experiences of violence. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Poisson regression with robust variance.
Results:
a prevalence of 27.6% (95% CI = 11.50-39.10) for moderate to severe levels of depression was observed. This prevalence was associated with being unmarried (PR = 1.19; 95% CI = 1.10-1.28) and experiencing violence in healthcare services (PR = 2.30; 95% CI = 1.10-4.81).
Conclusions:
the absence of a partner and experiences of violence in healthcare settings negatively impacted mental health, leading to an increased prevalence of depressive symptoms among transvestite and transsexual individuals. Advocating for transgender rights and providing ongoing education in health care for professionals are critical strategies in promoting the mental health of this population.

Objective:
This article aims to identify the relational technologies used by Family Health Strategy nurses in their daily work when treating patients.
Method:
Descriptive and cross-sectional study with qualitative approach; conducted between May and July 2015, in three Basic Health Units of the Southern Region of the Municipality of São Paulo, with 19 nurses of the Family Health Strategy. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview, and the speeches were fully transcribed and analyzed according to the technique of content analysis.
Results:
From the speeches of the participants, three categories emerged, showing the unawareness of the concept, but the valorization of its use; which are the relational technologies used by the participating nurses (communication, listening, empathy and welcoming reception), as well as the report of barriers to the use of relational technologies.
Final consideration:
Although the nurses value the use of relational technologies, the participants denoted unawareness of the nomenclature and its associated concepts, suggesting superficiality in the understanding and use of these instruments in the context of care in the Family Health Strategy.

Objective:
To understand mental health nursing care based on the concept of the subject of the unconscious proposed by Lacan.
Method:
A narrative study was carried out with 19 nurses, chosen based on their theoretical approach or referral by other participants, through the snowball sampling technique. The interviews were carried out in person or digitally, and were recorded and fully transcribed.
Results:
The analysis was carried out based on Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis, approaching nursing care as it acts on the body, secretions, and excretions, to distinguish it from the spirit of fineness. Effects on care are discussed, considering the subject of the unconscious with its knowledge, creating unique exits (sinthome). In this situation, professionals are required to abstain from a position of knowing what is better for the Other.
Final considerations:
This nursing care perspective offers contributions when discussing the centrality of the subject and words in the care process.

Introduction:
Nutritional counseling and growth follow-up are priorities when providing care to children; however, these have not been completely incorporated into primary health care.
Objective:
To know the difficulties for providing nutritional counseling and child growth follow-up, from a professional healthcare perspective.
Method:
Qualitative study, using Donabedian as theoretical framework, developed by 53 professionals in the field of primary health care. Data was obtained from focal groups and submitted to content analysis.
Results:
The main difficulties for nutritional counseling were clustered in the category of ‘perceptions and beliefs related to child feeding’. The ‘problems of infrastructure and healthcare’ and ‘maintenance of the hegemonic medical model’ are the main difficulties for following-up growth.
Final considerations:
Besides investments in infrastructure, healthcare training is indispensable considering beliefs and professional experiences, so in fact, nutritional counseling and child growth follow-up are incorporated in primary health care.
