Objectives:
to assess the suitability, facilitators, and barriers of using a video clip for teaching lactation physiology to health students.
Methods:
a cross-sectional study was conducted with online data collection at a higher education institution, using the Assistive Technology Assessment Instrument and open-ended questions. The sample consisted of 88 students.
Results:
the video clip was deemed suitable in all attributes. Facilitators identified included attractiveness, musicality, and ease of access. Barriers noted were the music’s speed and the necessity for prior knowledge. The video clip achieved adequate scores for interactivity (1.71), purpose (1.77), relevance (1.64), and clarity (1.77). The overall average of the attributes was 1.72.
Conclusions:
the video clip can serve as an effective learning strategy to enhance hybrid education, potentially contributing to the promotion and support of breastfeeding. However, some barriers underscore the importance of prior knowledge for a complete understanding of the content.

Objectives:
to develop and validate a nursing care plan in a Maternal Intensive Care Unit.
Methods:
a methodological study, developed in stages: integrative review; Nursing History construction; care plan restructuring; appearance and content validity by judges.
Results:
the history was organized into sections: Identification; Basic Human Needs; Physical Examination; and Assessment of Basic Human Needs. A care plan was restructured with 34 diagnoses, organized according to basic human needs. A satisfactory level of appearance validity of the history and care plan was obtained (Concordance Index varying between 86.3 and 100 for both instruments), and content validity with average indexes of 90.8 and 92.8, respectively. Thirty-four diagnoses, their interventions and nursing actions were consolidated.
Conclusions:
the instruments were considered relevant and pertinent in terms of appearance and content, and their use in the institution under study as well as in other similar services may be recommended.

Objectives:
to develop and assess a nursing care protocol for critically ill users with tracheostomy under mechanical ventilation.
Methods:
a methodological study, developed through two phases, guided by the 5W2H management tool: I) target audience characterization and II) technology development.
Results:
thirty-four nursing professionals participated in this study, who presented educational demands in relation to care for critical users with tracheostomy, with an emphasis on standardizing care through a protocol and carrying out continuing education.
Final Considerations:
the creation and validity of new technologies aimed at this purpose enhanced the participation of nursing professionals and their empowerment in the health institution’s microsectoral actions and in macrosectoral actions, highlighting the need for public policies that guarantee the conduct of a line of care for users with tracheostomy.

Objectives:
to present the theoretical model, logic model, and the analysis and judgment matrix of the Fall TIPS Brazil Program.
Methods:
a qualitative, participatory research approach, in the form of an evaluability study, encompassing the phases (1) problem analysis; (2) program design, development, and adaptation to the Brazilian context; (3) program dissemination. Data were collected through document analysis and workshops.
Results:
through document analysis, workshops with stakeholders from the participating institution, and validation with key informants, it was possible to identify the program’s objectives, expected outcomes, and the target audience. This allowed the construction of theoretical and logic models and, through evaluative questions, the identification of indicators for the evaluation of the Fall TIPS Brazil Program.
Final Considerations:
this study has provided insights into the Fall TIPS program, the topic of hospital fall prevention, and the proposed models and indicators can be employed in the implementation and future evaluative processes of the program.

Objective:
To analyze the factors associated with the knowledge of Community Health Agents (ACS) about tuberculosis.
Methods:
A cross-sectional study was conducted with 110 ACS. A questionnaire was used to assess knowledge about pulmonary tuberculosis (component 1) and the work functions of ACS in the National Tuberculosis Control Program (component 2). The level of knowledge, according to the scores converted into a scale of 0 to 100, was classified as: 0-50% (low), 51-75% (medium), and over 75% (high). Multiple regression was used in the analysis of associated factors.
Results:
The global score (average of the scores of components 1 and 2) median knowledge was 68.6%. Overall knowledge about tuberculosis was positively associated with the length of professional experience, having received training on tuberculosis, and access to the tuberculosis guide/handbook.
Conclusions:
Investments in training and capacity-building strategies for ACS will contribute to increasing these professionals’ knowledge, resulting in greater success in tuberculosis control.

Objetivo:
Identificar indicadores de desnutrición crónica entre niños de 0 a 24 meses en el Sudeste Asiático.
Métodos:
Esta revisión de alcance se centró en artículos con diseño de estudio observacional publicados en inglés, entre los años 2012 y 2023 de cinco bases de datos internacionales. Las principales palabras clave utilizadas fueron: “stunting (Desnutrición crónica)” o “growth disorder (Desorden del crecimiento)”, y “newborn (Recién nacido)”, y “predict (Predecir)”, y “Southeast Asia (Sudeste Asiático)”.
Resultados:
De los 27 artículos seleccionados para el análisis final, se encontraron trece indicadores que influyen en la desnutrición crónica en siete países del Sudeste Asiático. Los trece indicadores incluyen el niño, la madre, el hogar, la alimentación inadequada complementaria, la lactancia materna inadecuada, la atención inadecuada, los alimentos de mala calidad, la seguridad de los alimentos y el agua, la infección, la economía política, la salud y la asistencia sanitaria, el agua, el saneamiento y el medio ambiente, y por último el factor sociocultural.
Conclusión:
Todos estos indicadores pueden provocar desnutrición crónica en niños del Sudeste Asiático. Para poder prevenirlo los prestadores de servicios de salud y otros sectores relacionados, necesitan realizar actividades de promoción y prevención de la salud de acuerdo con los indicadores encontrados en este artículo.

Objectives:
to analyze intellectual productions on self-inflicted violence and suicide in people living with HIV/AIDS.
Methods:
a systematic review, carried out between March and April 2021, in the PubMed®/MEDLINE®, Web of Science and LILACS databases, subsidized in the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology. The period outlined was from 2011 to 2020.
Results:
a total of 199 studies were identified, and 16 composed the final sample, grouped into the categories: Sociodemographic characteristics of victims of self-inflicted violence/suicide and their intervening factors (pointing to young adults, especially homosexuals, with low social support and a history of mental illness or substance abuse as usual victims); Successful measures for suicide prevention/control in people living with HIV/AIDS (suggesting more frequent psychosocial and clinical follow-up of those starting antiretroviral and immunocompromised treatment).
Conclusions:
biopsychosocial follow-up, analysis of sociodemographic profile and intervening factors should be frequent in this population for disease prevention/control.

Objective:
To estimate the prevalence of common mental disorders and their associated factors in the elderly in a municipality in the countryside of the Brazilian Midwest.
Methods:
Quantitative, observational, cross-sectional approach research, conducted with 218 elderly people.
Results:
The prevalence of the common mental disorder among the elderly was 25.1%; in the univariate analysis, it was higher in females (35.4%), in the age group of 80 years or older (46.1%), brown skin color (30.2%), widowed (42.6%), illiterate (47.6%), and retired (27.6%). In the multiple analysis, the variables female gender (p<0.006), age 80 years or older (p<0.036), dissatisfaction with life (p<0.009), lack of social interaction (p=0.017), and dysfunctional family (p=0.021) remained associated with CMD.
Conclusion:
The results revealed are helpful and contribute to the reinforcement of the need for mental health care in this population extract so growing worldwide.

Objectives:
to assess the effectiveness of guidelines on fall prevention in a group of older adults in Primary Health Care.
Methods:
a cross-sectional study, carried out with older adults selected by a simple random sample (274; N=1,234). Data covered sociodemographic and socioeconomic variables, marital status, health conditions, factors associated with falls and participation in the prevention group. Student’s t test was used, and dichotomous variables were used by the chi-square test. The project met ethical requirements.
Results:
sample with female profile (61.7%), married, with low education, mean age of 71.69 years. The factors associated with falls identified were female sex, medicalization and participation in the prevention group. There was no protective association between participation in a fall prevention group in older adults and a decrease in the number of falls.
Conclusions:
based on evidence, a personalized intervention during the nursing visit is suggested as a strategy to prevent falls.

Objective:
to identify the prevalence and predictors of frailty in older people in Primary Health Care.
Method:
this is a descriptive and correlational study, carried out in a convenience sample of 136 older people in the community. Data were collected through a sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire and frailty phenotype. Student’s t test or U-Mann-Whitney test, chi-square and binary logistic regression were used for data analysis.
Results:
the prevalence of frailty was 26.5% (n=36). Frail individuals had older age (p=0.011), worse self-rated health (p=0.001) and lower physical capacity (p<0.001). In the multivariable regression, it was observed that frail individuals had older age (Odds Ratio=1.111; 95% confidence interval=1.026-1.203) and worse physical capacity (Odds Ratio=0.673; 95% confidence interval=0.508-0.893).
Conclusions:
the prevalence of frailty in older people in Primary Health Care was considerable. Advanced age and worse physical capacity were the most relevant predictors of frailty in the elderly.

Objective:
To validate a questionnaire to assess the impact of dementia on one of the household members.
Methods:
Methodological study. The instrument was designed based on literature review, expert opinion, and researchers’ experience and then applied to a non-probability convenience sample consisting of 262 family members who live daily with a person with dementia. The construct validity was studied by exploratory factor analysis, principal components method, with varimax rotation of the items.
Results:
An instrument with 30 items was obtained, distributed in four dimensions: “Emotional dimension,” “Economic dimension,” “Family relations dimension,” and “Support-seeking dimension.” Factor analysis revealed a total explained variance of 54.96% and a total Cronbach’s alpha of .899.
Conclusions:
The instrument presents high internal consistency, grouped into four dimensions, all closely related to the family’s adaptation to the onset of dementia in one of its members.

Objective:
To analyze the association between self-esteem and quality of life in the elderly.
Methods:
Cross-sectional web survey developed with 519 elderly people. Participants filled out three data collection instruments developed on the Google Forms platform and widely disseminated through all of Brazil. Fisher’s exact test, Mann-Whitney, Pearson correlation, and linear regression with 95% confidence interval were used.
Results:
Self-esteem was associated with all quality-of-life facets: sensory skills [β= 1.307; p<0.001]; autonomy [β= 2.101; p<0.001]; past, present, and future activities [β= 2.486; p<0.001]; social presence [β= 2.547; p<0.001]; death and dying [β= 2.175; p<0.001]; and intimacy [β=2.378; p<0.001].
Conclusion:
There is a positive and statistically significant association between self-esteem and quality of life in the elderly. We therefore suggest the development of local policies capable of raising this age groups’ self-esteem and reaffirming aging as a new possibility for discoveries and pleasure.

Objectives:
to describe the strategy of applying the nursing process guided by Pender’s Health Promotion Model to elderly women susceptible to falls with a view to promoting a self-efficacy behavior for fall prevention.
Methods:
application of the nursing process to eleven elderly women who had already experienced falls, living in a neighborhood in the outskirts of Belem, state of Pará, which involved interviews to obtain their nursing history and group meetings using the focus group technique to develop the other phases of the nursing process: nursing diagnosis, nursing interventions, and nursing assessment.
Results:
despite the risk factors for falls, the intervention model adopted in this study allowed elderly women to enhance their self-efficacy.
Final Considerations:
the model proved to be suitable for the participation of elderly women in actions to build fall prevention behaviors, with a view to healthier lifestyles.

Objectives:
to analyze the personal and work-related burden factors associated with physical and emotional symptoms of informal caregivers of the elderly.
Methods:
cross-sectional study conducted with 121 informal caregivers and 121 seniors who received care, assessed individually for the risk of: physical overload, musculoskeletal symptoms, Self-Reporting Questionnaire, effort perception, and Katz index.
Results:
a greater perception of effort raises up to 3.3 times the chances of presenting symptoms of pain in the spine region (p=0.01), and lower functional capacity of the elderly increases up to 1.3 times the chances of presenting pain symptoms in the spine region (p=0.02). The symptoms of emotional overload were associated with the caregiver’s low income (p=0.02).
Conclusions:
the perception of effort, dependence of the elderly, caregiver’s age, and symptoms of emotional overload are involved with caregivers’ symptoms of physical overload, and low income, with emotional overload.

Objective:
to identify the instruments used to assess patient safety culture in emergency settings.
Method:
an integrative literature review conducted from 2000 to 2018.
Results:
13 instruments were identified to assess patient safety culture in hospital and pre-hospital emergencies, comprising 12 to 50 questions, grouped from three to 12 dimensions, with dimensions related to teamwork, support, and management actions for patient safety and for continuous process improvement and continuing education. The Emergency Medical Service Safety Attitude Questionnaire, which is exclusive for pre-hospital care, stands out.
Conclusions:
the choice and the best decision regarding the instrument are linked to the objectives, the environment and the population to be investigated, as well as the instrument’s reliability.

Objective:
to analyze the spatial distribution of new cases of tuberculosis compared to the location of the Primary Healthcare Units that performed the compulsory notification.
Method:
ecological study conducted in Belém, Pará, with 5,294 new cases of tuberculosis notified to Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação for the period from 2010 to 2014. The cases were georeferenced using the software applications ArcGis 10.2 and TerraView 4.2.2. The techniques of Kernel density and global Moran geostatistics were used.
Results:
the incidence of tuberculosis cases did not vary significantly between the years studied, however there was a variation in incidence between neighborhoods. Health units that exhibited higher number of notifications can suffer great influence of migration from nearby neighborhoods.
Conclusion:
the spatial dynamics of tuberculosis associated with health services allows to know the areas with increased risk of tuberculosis and the density of notifications of health units.

to evaluate the contributions of an educational program for capillary blood glucose self-monitoring.
Method:
a quasi-experimental study performed in an outpatient unit of a tertiary health care service in a sample of 25 people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, from July 2016 to December 2017, developed through interactive tools for care with capillary blood glucose self-monitoring.
Results:
among the items of capillary blood glucose self-monitoring that showed improvement after participation in the educational program, the most noteworthy are the “postprandial blood glucose values” (p=0.0039), “Interpretation of capillary blood glucose results with meals and medications” (p=0.0156), “recognition of the ‘weakness’ symptom for hyperglycemia” (p=0.0386) and “administration of medications correctly” for hyperglycemia prevention (p=0.0063).
Conclusion:
the study made it possible to recognize the main characteristics of blood glucose self-monitoring that may contribute to the care for the person with diabetes.

Objective:
to analyze the processes of meaning production, based on the speeches of nursing professionals, about how they feel about the titles of “angels and heroes” given by society during the pandemic of COVID-19.
Methods:
a qualitative, documentary research. Data was collected in October and November 2020 and analyzed from the perspective of the Discourse Analysis proposed by Michel Foucault.
Results:
they were organized into two thematic categories: “Angels and heroes? The (not) heroic reality of nursing during the pandemic” and “The search for recognition of the professional work of nursing: between what is said and what is not said”.
Final considerations:
the nurses’ speeches enunciate the search for decent conditions for the execution of care, fair wages, and recognition of the professional work by society.

Objective:
To design and validate the content and format of a guidebook for chronic renal failure patients about the care with venous access for hemodialysis at home.
Method:
Methodological study, in which the steps for the guidebook design were: project planning, literature search, material content, and qualification selection.
Results:
After analysis of the articles, the content to be included in the guidebook was selected. The first draft of the guidebook was submitted for content and format validation, with the participation of 12 specialists. The necessary adjustments for the design of the final version were made with the help of an illustrator.
Conclusion:
The designed guidebook, “Hemodialysis: Care of Venous Accesses and Intercurrences at Home,” consists of educational material to help hemodialysis patients with daily care with central venous catheter and arteriovenous fistula practices in case of intercurrences.

Objective:
To identify available evidence about the self-reported experience of hospitalized children.
Methods:
An integrative review was carried out, and the survey occurred between September and November 2017, in the electronic sources DLTD-USP, CAPES, IBICT, MEDLINE, LILACS and BDENF.
Results:
Ten studies were found, prevailing samples with descriptive design and approach in qualitative and mixed methods research. The literature evidenced the experience of hospitalized children through the report of parents and health professionals; few were self-reported by the child itself. Five themes were identified: Understanding the time of hospital admission, relevance of care received, feeling of pain, importance of the patient companion, information received about hospitalization.
Conclusion:
It was found that experiences in childhood are able to have repercussions throughout life, and it is relevant that nursing is attentive to their clients’ perception in order to have more satisfaction and the negative impact is diminished.

Objective:
to investigate the biological activities of interest to the health of Jatropha multifida plant species in published scientific literature.
Methods:
this is an integrative review, with searches between May and June 2019, using the descriptors, combined through the Boolean operator AND, Jatropha multifida, anti-infective agents, wound healing, cytotoxicity and antioxidants, in LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE, SciFinder, Web of Science and Scopus databases and in the virtual libraries SciELO and ScienceDirect.
Results:
twelve publications were retrieved that showed nine biological activities. The antioxidant activity was reported in 04 (33.33%) studies; antimicrobial and anticancer, addressed by 03 (25%) and 02 (16.66%); anti-inflammatory, anti-melanin deposition, healing, antiophidic, purgative and anti-influenza, seen in 01 (8.33%) each.
Final considerations:
although scarce, the published scientific production highlights the biological potential of J. multifida and supports the need for further studies.

Objective:
to analyze the transition of blind women to motherhood from the perspective of Transitions Theory.
Method:
a qualitative, descriptive study, which had as participants 11 blind women. An open interview was conducted using the narrative method. Analysis occurred in the light of Transitions Theory, with approval from the Research Ethics Committee with Human Beings.
Results:
the age group was 32 to 63 years, mostly Catholic, with social security benefits. Transition to motherhood mainly evidenced the experience when becoming a mother and feelings related to this new phase of life.
Final considerations:
the women in the study adapted themselves to the maternal role, even with difficulties, developed healthy relationships with their children, overcame their disability and nurtured dreams and desires. They were aware of their role, achieving with mastery a healthy transition. It was evidenced scarcity of nursing therapies.
