Objective:
to analyze the prevalence and factors associated with inconsistent use of condoms among people living with HIV/ Aids (PLWHA).
Method:
it is a cross-sectional study with 228, with individual interviews conducted in 2011. A multivariate analysis was performed with a logistic regression model.
Results:
143 participants met the inclusion criteria, and the prevalence of inconsistent condom use was 28.7%. However, there was greater adherence among men (79.3%). In the multivariate analysis, the independent variable daily use of alcohol (OR=11.02; 95% CI 1.84, 65.92; p = 0.021) was associated with inconsistent condom use. The chance of men making consistent condom use was higher than women (OR = 0.36, 95% CI 0.15, 0.81; p = 0.015).
Conclusion:
the prevalence of inconsistent condom male use among PLWHA was low, however, evidenced greater compliance among men over women with a statistically significant difference and the daily use of alcohol was associated with inconsistent condom use.

Objective:
to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of patients with valvular heart disease and to verify the influence of these variables on the impact of valve disease in daily life.
Method:
the study involved 86 outpatients. Data collection was performed in two stages – face-to-face interview for sociodemographic and clinical characterization and through telephone contact for the application of the Instrument to Measure the Impact of Valvular Heart Disease on Patient’s Everyday Life (IDCV). Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis.
Results:
it was noticed that the total score of IDCV and its domains were influenced by age, schooling, presence or absence of symptoms, use or not of diuretic.
Conclusion:
The impact of the disease was influenced by sociodemographic and clinical variables. The results provide subsidies for the design of nursing interventions aimed at reducing the impact of the disease on the patient’s daily life with valve disease.

Objective:
to analyze the health indicators of workers of hospital area for exposure to workloads, wear processes and its consequences.
Method:
a retrospective, descriptive and exploratory study performed in a hospital in southern Brazil. The population consisted of 1,050 workers notifications of registered in the Monitoring System of Nursing Workers Health, in 2011.
Results:
80.8% of the records were female workers, with 34.2% aged between 31 to 40 years old, corresponding to 2478 working lost days. The results subsidized the implementation of nine indicators that showed the prevalence of respiratory and osteoarticular problems.
Conclusion:
the results allow the reflection and redirection of actions for workers’ health, as the processes of becoming ill are compounded by exposure to psychic burdens. These indicators, when monitored, can contribute to the transformation of the profile of morbidity of these workers.

Objective:
to analyze sustainable actions from an environmental point of view in the medication process, from the reception of the prescription of the pharmacy to waste discard by nursing.
Method:
study before and after performed through Lean Six Sigma methodology. The sample consisted of the amount and type of waste resulting from the pharmacy and nursing services of a medical-surgical clinical unit.
Results:
after the intervention was obtained at the pharmacy a reduction of 74.8% of chemical, infectious and sharps waste, an increase of 33.3% of common recyclable and 20% of common non-recyclable. In nursing, there was a reduction of 22.5% of chemical, infectious and sharps waste, an increase of 22.9% of common recyclable and an increase of 20% of common non-recyclable.
Conclusion:
the practice of sustainable actions in the hospital is possible, contributing to the optimization of resources and waste production with benefits to the institution, environment, and health.

Objective:
to support the assessment and the necessary changes in the curriculum of an undergraduate degree in Nursing.
Methods:
it is a descriptive study developed in two stages as an action research. In the first stage, the speeches of 19 graduates and 15 employers were interviewed and analyzed; in the second stage, five teachers participated in the focus group. For processing the data, the content analysis was adopted.
Results:
based on the assessment of the actors, an action plan was created with suggestions regarding the curriculum flexibility, content resizing, continuing education, practice enhancement, active methodologies and autonomy of the student.
Conclusion:
the participation of actors participants of the training process and performance of professional nurses in the evaluation of a curriculum pointed aspects to realignment and provided concrete benefits to improving the quality of undergraduate course curriculum, scenario of this study.

Objective:
characterizing the national and international scientifi c literature about the advanced directives of living will as applied to the terminally ill patient.
Method:
integrative review considering the articles published in Portal Capes, SciELO, LILACS, MEDLINE, Journal of Bioethics and Bioethikos, with the descriptors: Advanced directives, Wills regarding life and Advance Directives, Living Will and Terminally Ill, totaling 44 articles submitted to content analysis.
Results:
three categories emerged: Students and professionals facing the advance directives of living will: Perceptions, opinions and practices; Patient’s receptivity to the Advance Directives of Living Will; The family facing the advance directives of living will.
Conclusion:
the relevance of the topic became evident as a guarantee of respect for the dignity and autonomy of the patient, as well as to reduce ethical confl icts faced by families and health professionals facing care at the end of life.

Objective:
To validate, with the target audience, the usability and appearance of a serialized album about the warning signs to the health of children below 2 months.
Method:
Methodological validation study with the target population of an educational material in the form of a serialized album. 11 mothers with children under 2 months of age participated. The domains evaluated were: Objectives, Organization, Writing Style, Appearance, and Motivation. Data were analyzed using descriptive and statistics, and the data agreement index was calculated.
Results:
The global data agreement index was high (0.99). Mothers had positive responses, recognizing the excellence of the material: attractive figures that were easy to understand.
Conclusion:
The validation of the serialized album provides mothers with the abilities and knowledge they need to identify warning signs in regard to the health of their children, providing them with autonomy, corresponsibility, and helping them develop better child health practices.

Objective:
To validate the Brazilian Portuguese translation and analyze the cultural adaptation of the Venous International Assessment Scale.
Methods:
Observational study by employing the Delphi technique and an equivalence evaluation by experts. The results were analyzed using item scores and by content validity index calculations of item, scale, and universal agreement.
Results:
Three rounds of evaluation were necessary for consensus. Explanatory contents were incorporated into the original scale throughout the process, resulting in a new version: VIA Scale – Revised. This scale obtained a content validity index of 0.96 and a universal agreement of 0.78. In the cross-cultural adequacy analysis phase, a score of 0.77 was obtained. The majority (90.5%) of the participants judged the scale’s decision support property as positive.
Conclusion:
The VIA Scale was validated and culturally adapted to the Brazilian Portuguese language, resulting in the VIA Scale – Revised (VIA-R).

Objective:
To analyze the effects of the technique of virtual reality guided imagery in the vital signs of hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation patients.
Method:
Quasi-experimental study with 35 participants who received an intervention using virtual reality guided imagery with progressive muscle relaxation, applied three times a week for four weeks in a referral hospital for transplants in the south of Brazil. Data collected included: temperature, arterial pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, pain, and oxygen saturation, before and after each intervention. The comparisons were analyzed using Wilcoxon’s test.
Results:
There was a clinical significance between the mean measurements before and after for respiratory rate (p=0.00) in all stages, and for the variables Heart rate, Temperature, and Oxygen saturation from the 1st to the 12th measurements (p=0.05).
Conclusion:
The intervention was low cost, easy to apply, and showed positive effects, presenting itself as an option for patient-focused care.

Objective:
Semantically validate an educational technology with the caregiver of children and adolescents undergoing chemotherapy.
Method:
Methodological study, with a quantitative approach, guided by the theoretical framework of psychometry, developed between March and April 2022, with nine caregivers of children and adolescents undergoing chemotherapy. Educational technology is a digital animation film about the pediatric chemotherapy treatment process, used as a tool for health education.
Results:
In the reliability assessment, the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient was 0.936 [95%CI 0.868-0.984] with p < 0.05 and Cronbach’s alpha of 0.943, demonstrating satisfactory internal consistency. Regarding the semantic analysis, the domains related to objectives, organization, language, appearance, and motivation showed an agreement rate above 80%.
Conclusion:
Educational technology showed satisfactory rates, proving to be a valid, reliable, and important instrument to be used by caregivers of children and adolescents undergoing chemotherapy.

to present and discuss the advancement of science in symptom management through research involving oncological symptom clusters (OSC).
Method:
a reflective study, supported by the scientific literature on OSC.
Results:
five key points are crucial to advancing the science of symptom management through research involving OSC: definition of OSC characteristics; underlying mechanisms and priority symptom clusters; OSC measurement; targeted and personalized interventions; new analytical strategies.
Final considerations:
a better understanding of the complex connections between different systems and biobehavioral aspects in patients, especially in the field of oncology nursing, is urgent. The study of these interactions has become increasingly promising and emerging for oncology nursing, since therapeutic interventions, whose target is the neuroimmunoendocrine axis, are relevant for personalized care, translating into greater scientific and nurse autonomy to care for patients.

Objectives:
to analyze the prevalence of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and the associated factors in pregnant women in the state of Pará.
Methods:
retrospective, analytical, quantitative study with a sample of 332 medical records of HIV-positive pregnant women hospitalized at the Referral Maternity Hospital in the state of Pará between 2010 and 2019. Bivariate and multivariate statistical analysis were performed with the variables collected.
Results:
the average prevalence in the period was 2.39% and the Metropolitan Region concentrated 66.87% of cases. There was a strong relationship between the number of antenatal consultations and lack of knowledge of serological status (p value equal to 0.01E-17) variables, and a correlation between the education and number of antenatal consultations variables.
Conclusions:
the increase in the infection rate during the study period revealed the need to intensify health actions, early diagnosis and strategies to improve adherence to antiretroviral treatment for maternal viral suppression and reduction of the risk of vertical transmission, contributing to improve public policies.

Objectives:
to analyze the occurrence of respiratory complications over the first year of life in preterm infants who did not receive palivizumab monoclonal antibodies.
Methods:
analytical retrospective cohort study with preterm infants born between 2012 and 2016 in Uberlândia, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data collection occurred from January to November 2018, by consulting hospital and primary healthcare medical records. Data were processed with the Poisson regression model, with p<0.05.
Results:
of a total of 5,213 preterm births, 504 (9.7%) met the inclusion criteria. The preterm infants in this subset were assisted 2,899 times in primary care, which resulted in 1,098 (37.5%) medical diagnoses, of which 803 (78.5%) involved the respiratory tract. Preterm babies fed on formula milk at hospital discharge had more diagnoses of respiratory diseases. Maternal age (p=0.039), respiratory diagnosis at hospital discharge (p=0.028), and number of sporadic appointments (p<0.001) showed a significant association with bronchiolitis; number of sporadic appointments showed a significant association with occurrence of respiratory diseases; and breastfeeding had a protective effect against the development of bronchiolitis.
Conclusions:
preterm infants who did not receive palivizumab showed a high percentage of respiratory diseases, and breastfeeding helped protect them against bronchiolitis. It is recommended that these preterm babies be monitored in primary health care.

Objectives:
to present the validation process of a Grounded Theory on the management of palliative care at home by a caregiver of a family member who experiences a death/dying process.
Methods:
a qualitative, explanatory research, which validated a theoretical matrix through a conversation circle containing 15 family caregivers and nine healthcare professionals, in December 2018.
Results:
forty-six propositions were validated regarding family caregivers’ contextual, causal, intervening conditions, consequences and action strategies to deal with the dying and death process of a family member. Conversation circles encouraged dialogue and (re)signification of the senses and knowledge of those involved, proving to be a way of educating and promoting the exercise of citizenship by participants.
Final Considerations:
the conversation circle made it possible for participants to interact and share information and experiences regarding home care for palliative patients and their families.

Objective:
To assess the level of Burnout among nurses in a general emergency department.
Method:
Quantitative, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional study. 32 nurses from a general adult emergency department answered a questionnaire to evaluate Burnout. (Copenhagen Burnout Inventory).
Result:
It was verified that 59.4% of the nurses presented total Burnout. Work-related burnout was the subscale with the highest average score. It was found that the lower the age and the longer the time working in the institution, the higher the level of Burnout. Longer professional experience was related to lower levels of Burnout. There were also higher scores of Burnout among participants who thought about changing their profession, their institution or their service.
Conclusion:
The prevalence of Burnout is high. Professional Burnout was the most critical subscale. Age and the current work are the subscales that most influence perceived Burnout

Objective:
Reflect on the work experienced by the nurse in coping with the COVID-19 pandemic in a public hospital of the State of Rio Grande do Norte.
Methods:
Reflective essay based in the professional experience in a public reference hospital for the care of patients affected by COVID-19 in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. Results were organized in two empirical categories, which emphasize potentialities and barriers in the nurse’s work in the face of the COVID-19, presented by means of Ishikawa diagram.
Results:
Two categories emerged from the experiences: Nursing leadership in organizing health services to face COVID-19; and the performance of nursing care management in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Final considerations:
It is necessary to value the nurse’s work in all its attributes, as well as strengthen the interdisciplinary work processes, which collaborate to overcome the crisis caused by the pandemic.

Objective:
to know and analyze the nursing appeals on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Method:
it is a documentary, qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory research with data collected in publications in two social media. Two hundred ninety-five publications of nursing professionals published on Twitter and Instagram between March 11 and 20, 2020 were submitted to content analysis using ATLAS.ti resources.
Results:
four thematic categories emerged: #stayathome, #whereismyPPE, #nowweareheroes, #nothingnewinthefrontline, according to frequency of communications. The appeals show a relationship with the social relevance of nursing professional work and with the conditions required for its exercise.
Final considerations:
old and new challenges of the profession were placed on the agenda in social media, especially related to the workforce and instruments of labor. These speeches can serve as a foundation for policies to improve working conditions and promote appreciation of the profession.

Objectives:
To analyze the factors related to the occupational stress of a Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) nursing team.
Methods:
This is a descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, performed with nursing professionals from Samu service of a city of Pernambuco. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the Lipp’s Stress Symptom Inventory were used.
Results:
The participants presenting stress (24.6%) were classified in the phases: resistance (19.7%), exhaustion (4.4%) and near exhaustion (0.5%). It was also observed an association of stress level with the following factors: gender, sleep quality, professional autonomy restriction, emotional exhaustion with work performed and work in inadequate or unhealthy physical facilities.
Conclusions:
Although showing low occurrence of stress, this study pointed out the profile that presents the highest risk of developing occupational stress, through the factors significantly associated with stress in the studied population.

Objective:
Developing a mobile application for the teaching of the International Classification for Nursing Practice.
Methods:
Methodological applied research for technological production, performed in three phases of the contextualized instructional design model: analysis, design and development.
Results:
The application has an initial screen, which provides information about the team and its purpose. Then, four moblets are listed, including presentation, user’s guide consisting of five modules, educational games and five clinical cases. The references on which the application was based are also presented.
Final considerations:
It was possible to develop an application with the potential to promote the knowledge of nursing students and professionals about this classification system.

Objective:
To examine the impact of the infection by the novel coronavirus on Brazilian children in situation of social vulnerability based on the Millennium Sustainable Development Goals.
Method:
Reflective study based on discursive formulation in three aspects: principles of the objectives and goals for the millennium sustainable development; impact of the pandemic on the health of children and their families living in social vulnerability; and the role of pediatric nursing in the care provided – limits and challenges.
Results:
In January 2020, the news of COVID 19 is released as a pandemic. In Brazil, children and families are still without access to basic rights, thereby increasing their risks of social vulnerability because of the quarantine. The nursing field has an important role in monitoring children and their families, offering guidance in search for solutions and preventing contamination.
Conclusion:
There are still challenges to be overcome by the children and their families in situations of vulnerability against COVID-19.

Objective:
Assess the level of health literacy of adults, with and without hypertension, treated in three basic health units (UBS) in Picos, Piauí.
Methods:
Cross-sectional study conducted with 357 adults. Data were collected using a questionnaire with sociodemographic variables, and literacy was assessed by the Test of Functional Literacy in Adults. Descriptive analysis was performed followed by the association between literacy and exposure variables with Pearson’s chi-squared (X2) test and Mann-Whitney U test.
Results:
Inadequate or marginal health literacy was found in three units investigated (71.5%; 77.8% and 85.2%);. Age and the years of schooling were factors associated with inadequate literacy in adults with hypertension (p<0.0001).
Conclusion:
Inadequate literacy was found in more than 70% of the hypertensive patients investigated. This finding reinforces the need to improve the self-care skills of hypertensive patients, especially the older ones and those with few years of schooling.
