Objectives:
to assess the evidence of reliability and convergent construct validity of the King’s Parkinson’s Disease Pain Questionnaire.
Methods:
psychometric study of 75 older adults with Parkinson’s disease. The instrument was applied by two researchers separately and reapplied by one researcher 15 days later. In terms of reliability, internal consistency was assessed using the Cronbach’s alpha test and stability using the intraclass correlation coefficient. Scores of the King’s Parkinson’s Disease Pain Questionnaire were compared to those of the Geriatric Pain Measure in the assessment of construct validity.
Results:
the mean Cronbach’s alpha obtained between the three assessments was above 0.60, the intraclass correlation between the three assessments was above 0.90, and there was a weak but significant correlation between the two applied scales.
Conclusions:
the instrument showed adequate evidence of convergent construct validity and reliability, and can be used in clinical practice.

Objectives:
to analyze the relationship of general, physical, and psychological violence with depressive symptoms and cognition in the elderly.
Methods:
quantitative, cross-sectional study, carried out with 323 elders from the Brazilian northeast. Data collection used a sociodemographic instrument; the Conflict Tactics Scales Form R; the Geriatric Depression Scale; and the Mini-Mental State Examination. The analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results:
as violence increases, so do the depressive symptoms; the opposite was true when comparing violence with cognitive involvement. There is a correlation between physical and psychological violence and depressive symptoms; more depressive elders are from 1.96 to 3.00 times more likely to be the victims of psychological and physical violence, respectively.
Conclusions:
general, physical, and psychological violence is associated with depressive symptoms; those with less cognitive alterations are more vulnerable to abuse. Elders with depressive symptoms are more likely to suffer psychological and physically violence.

Objective:
To analyze the determinants for non-vaccination against COVID-19 in pregnant women in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Methods:
An epidemiological study with a cross-sectional design was conducted using data from the project titled “Childbirth and Breastfeeding in Children of Mothers Infected by SARS-CoV-2,” developed during the pandemic in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Results:
The study sample consisted of 360 pregnant women, of whom 77.89% received the COVID-19 vaccine. External, social, and institutional determinants can influence lower adherence to COVID-19 vaccination, especially the absence of employment during pregnancy, difficult access to prenatal consultations, and a compromised or deficient support network.
Conclusions:
In light of this scenario, greater encouragement for health education is necessary, especially during prenatal care, resulting in lower rates of morbidity and mortality and favorable perinatal outcomes.

Objectives:
to evaluate the effectiveness of peripheral central catheterization by comparing the modified Seldinger technique and the conventional technique in critically ill newborns.
Methods:
randomized unmasked clinical trial conducted in a public children’s hospital. Participation of 111 newborns with randomized allocation, 56 in the control group (conventional technique) and 55 in the experimental group (modified Seldinger). Success and absence of complications were evaluated as primary outcomes. The pain scale, difficulty in hemostasis, procedure time and number of punctures were considered secondary outcomes.
Results:
there was no statistical significance between groups, either for success (p=0.705) or absence of complications (p=0.347). A lower pain score, improved hemostasis, increased assertiveness with fewer punctures and reduced procedure time were not observed in the experimental group.
Conclusions:
the modified Seldinger technique did not prove to be a more effective insertion technology compared to the conventional method. Brazilian Clinical Trial Registry: RBR-69vks36.

Methods:
qualitative research, focused on thematic oral history, carried out with six sex workers in southern Brazil, who responded to in-depth interviews using a flexible script. Thematic content analysis was used.
Results:
the study included cisgender women who self-identified as half black and half white. Most had children and were separated. They reported abusive relationships by their intimate partners, with emphasis on verbal, psychological, financial, and physical violence and attempted femicide. Such violence resulted in coping strategies, such as avoiding emotional bonds and maintaining a discreet life.
Final Considerations:
intimate partner violence is prevalent among participants, leading them to adopt strategies to preserve their safety and well-being, highlighting the need for public policies that meet their particularities and guarantee protection.

Methods:
cross-sectional research, with nursing professionals from a university hospital in São Paulo. Own questionnaire and validated instruments were applied.
Results:
the overall quality of life was compromised. The physical component was lower in relation to low family income and among those who perceived greater control/pressure at work, and better for those who practiced physical activity and had support of leader and organization. The mental component was lower in professionals who reported dissatisfaction with work, worse self-rated physical health and were older. Scores for both components reduced due to work-related illnesses, worse work ability and increased daytime sleepiness.
Conclusions:
quality of life was statistically associated with controllable institutional factors and individual resources that, except age, can be promoted.

Objectives:
to understand the meanings of violence internalized throughout life by older adults living in rural areas.
Methods:
a qualitative study, anchored in the Symbolic Interactionism theoretical framework and the Grounded Theory methodological framework in the constructivist aspect. Data collection occurred through individual interviews. Data were coded using the Atlas.ti software.
Results:
it was possible to identify that the context of rural areas strengthens patriarchy culture as well as contributing to violence silence and naturalization. It was also found that violence is a product of social inequality and gender inequality.
Final Considerations:
older adults living in rural areas internalized the violence suffered in a unique way, and this scenario’s specific aspects can increase intra-family abuse, as there is a patriarchal culture that promotes social and gender inequality.
