Objective:
To understand health professionals’ values in the process of thinking and feeling about obstetric care, based on their experienced needs in the care process.
Methods:
Phenomenological study based on the Schelerian framework, with 48 health professionals from four maternity hospitals within the Metropolitan Region II of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Data collection was done through a phenomenological interview; and the analysis, with the Ricoeurian methodological framework.
Results:
The vital value was signified in care centered on physiological processes, for an individualized and safe monitoring. The ethical value was signified in the attitudes that provide women with autonomy in their way of giving birth, and recognize dialogue as a process of sympathy, affection, and bonding.
Conclusion:
The resignification of obstetric practice, articulated with public policies in the field of delivery and birth, supported by a vital ethical value, positively contributes to the humanization of care for women.

Objective:
to analyze the results of insertion procedures of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters in newborns using two measurement methods.
Methods:
this is a randomized clinical trial, presenting descriptive and exploratory results of variables. It was held at a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Data were collected between September 2018 and 2019. The sample analyzed was 88 catheter insertion procedures, distributed in two groups. Study approved by an Institutional Review Board and obtained registration in the country and abroad. Descriptive analysis and logistic regression of data.
Results:
modified measurement obtained a significant difference for the central catheter tip location. Elective removals and adverse events were not significant between groups; however, poor positioning was related to adverse events.
Conclusions:
between the two methods analyzed, the modified measurement obtained better results in the proper catheter tip positioning and, consequently, less risk to patients.

Objectives:
to evaluate students’ knowledge gain after the implementation of clinical simulation in Nursing Fundamentals disciplines.
Methods:
a quasi-experimental intervention was carried out with 60 students, distributed in comparison and intervention groups, who underwent traditional teaching and traditional teaching associated with simulated teaching, respectively. Pre-test and post-test instruments were applied to both groups.
Results:
after analyzing the students’ performance through the applied instruments, both groups had a cognitive evolution along with the taught content, however, when compared, the intervention group obtained a higher knowledge gain than the comparison group (p = 0.016), demonstrating progressive and increasing improvement with the use of the methodology.
Conclusions:
simulated teaching significantly helps students in gaining technical-cognitive knowledge. Therefore, it is recommended to adhere to the use of this methodology for teaching Nursing Fundamentals.

Objective:
To reflect on the possible contributions of the act of playing as a signifier in the use of dramatic Therapeutic Toy performed by the nurse.
Methods:
Theoretical-reflexive study, based on three moments: The language of the unconscious that emerges as a signifier when playing; How the dramatic Therapeutic Toy is used by the nurse; and the act of playing as a signifier during the application of the dramatic Therapeutic Toy: contributions to nursing practice.
Results:
Through the intervention of the nurse in the sessions, the act of playing mediated by the dramatic Therapeutic Toy provides the child with the opportunity to elaborate on signifier elements that had not been meant by him.
Final considerations:
Through the dramatic Therapeutic Toy, the articulation of the child’s organism with his reality in the formation of the self constitutes an advance for the production of knowledge and nursing assistance to the child, enabling complete care and allowing the elaboration of their anxieties, which collaborates so that the child constitutes himself as a subject.

Objectives:
to unveil the meanings that nurses attribute Information and Communication Technologies for the nursing work process
Methods:
qualitative research, theoretically and methodologically based on the Complexity Theory and on the Grounded Theory, respectively. Research with 19 participants, being 12 clinical nurses, and 7 resident nurses. Semi-structured interviews were used for data collection.
Results:
the results revealed the meanings that clinical nurses attribute to Information and Communication Technologies and, thus, the motivations and limitations for the use of these technologies, pointing out possibilities and strategies that impact the nursing work process, based on the interactions promoted by the official and non-official use of these resources.
Final Considerations:
the meanings that nurses attribute to Information and Communication Technologies are dependent on their ability to successfully employ those technologies and their importance to the work process developed by the professionals.

Educational Product and Technical-Technological Product constitute a specificity of postgraduate programs in the professional modality, a product that must be carefully evaluated by the programs and recorded on platforms of evaluating bodies. In 2019, a working group from the teaching area was assembled to create a Validation Form for these products. Thus, this article aims to present a proposal for improving this Validation Form for Educational/Technical-Technological Products, based on reflections treated in scientific articles and scientific events from the area, focusing on the relevance and need for this type of evaluation in a standardized way. It is intended to collaborate with the improvement of the evaluation processes and procedures of Educational/Technical-Technological Products for the necessary accuracy, representativeness, and homogeneity, which will allow the real dimensioning of the contributions of these products. This involves not only training qualified professionals, but also transforming practices in the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) [Brazil’s Unified Health System], promoting advances in science and in its fields of application.

Objectives:
to map the production of scientific knowledge on the clinical progression of COVID-19 coinfection in people living with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Methods:
scoping review, with search strategies in MEDLINE, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and LILACS. Dual independent data extraction and analysis of the material with similarity compilation and narrative synthesis.
Results:
sample consisted of 35 articles. Fever, cough, and dyspnea were the most prevalent signs/symptoms. Recurrent complications involved desaturation/worsening of oxygen desaturation and pneumonia. No standard pharmacological treatment was identified, and the main interventions involved the provision of supplemental oxygen and mechanical ventilation. The studies recommended preventive, care, and pharmacological practices.
Conclusions:
the clinical manifestations, complications, and treatments/assistance care for people coinfected with SARS CoV-2/HIV are similar to those of the general population. Coinfection, overall, does not infer a worse prognosis.

Objective:
Describe the knowledge and practices of the Primary Health Care nurse on sarcopenia screening in the elderly.
Methods:
Qualitative study conducted with 24 Primary Health Care nurses. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews, recorded and later transcribed. The speeches were grouped in thematic categories, later analyzed, supported by Paulo Freire’s reference.
Results:
The findings showed that the primary care nurses’ knowledge of sarcopenia screening in the elderly was incipient and fragile. This reality is reflected in a gap in practice, although some instruments already require the registration of characteristics indicative of sarcopenia, such as the evaluation of the calf circumference.
Final Considerations:
The need to train nurses to perform sarcopenia screening and to implement a promotional and preventive care plan, which will result in improving the quality of life of the elderly assisted in Primary Care, was highlighted.

Objectives:
To identify the knowledge and practice of primary care nurses about the social network approach for families of children with chronic diseases.
Methods:
Qualitative research, conducted by means of interviews with 23 family health nurses, from one municipality in Paraíba and one in Rio de Janeiro, from June to July of 2017. The data were interpreted using thematic analysis.
Results:
Social network meant institutional support offered by services outside the unit, and socioeconomic problems involved the family context. In practice, nurses find it difficult to provide comprehensive care and establish ties with families. When referring to other professionals, a weakness in the counter-referral to the family health unit is found.
Final considerations:
Some gaps were found regarding the knowledge and practice of nurses regarding the social network approach, which requires professional training to strengthen social relationships and the necessary support for families of children with chronic diseases.

Objective:
To analyze the strategies, challenges and possibilities of the articulation between mental health and primary health care from the perspective of health managers.
Method:
Exploratory, qualitative research carried out with 28 managers of mental health and primary care. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews between July and November 2013 and submitted to thematic content analysis.
Results:
The inclusion of mental health actions in primary care made it possible, in the view of managers, to increase users’ access to the care they need. This care strategy allows the extension of care practices in the territory, with matrix support as the main tool for the implementation of this care strategy.
Final considerations:
The articulation between primary care and mental health is a powerful device for psychosocial care, but it demands a new conformation of the Psychosocial Care Centers (Caps) and primary care services.

Objective:
Develop and validate a leaflet to guide health professionals in preventive measures related to injuries caused by the use of personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods:
For the construction of the brochure, an integrative review was carried out in the main databases. The evaluation of the leaflet was made by 59 health professionals (nurses, physiotherapists, and doctors), using the Delphi technique.
Results:
In the first evaluation cycle, the items in the brochure were considered by the judges to be “inadequate” to “adequate”; the Content Validity Index was 0.80-1.0. After the adjustments suggested by the judges were implemented, the leaflet was sent back to the second evaluation cycle, in which all items were considered “adequate”, resulting in a Content Validity Index of 1.0.
Conclusion:

Objective:
to analyze the self-efficacy of elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the relationship with sociodemographic, clinical, knowledge, and attitude variables.
Method:
a cross-sectional quantitative study conducted with 256 elderly people enrolled in Family Health Strategies. Data were obtained through interviews. Descriptive statistical analysis and multiple linear regression model were performed (p <0.05).
Results:
female, 69.95-year mean age, white skin color, 4-7 years of schooling, living with a partner, retirees, low individual monthly income, 6 to 15 years of illness, Catholics, living with children (with or without spouse). The elderly’s low knowledge and negative attitude prevailed. Self-efficacy was associated with attitude and knowledge in the domains “General and Specific Diet”, “Physical Exercise” and “Blood Glucose”.
Conclusion:
self-efficacy investigations in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus management in the elderly are important and encourage treatment adherence.

Objective:
To identify the knowledge and self-care actions taken by nursing undergraduate students of a Federal University of the South of Brazil, against Sexually Transmitted Infections.
Method:
Exploratory qualitative study, conducted 40 interviews with undergraduate students at the beginning and end of the course. The analysis was thematic, resulting in three categories.
Results:
Knowledge about the subject is a decisive factor for self-care, and the more knowledge, the greater the prevention. The dissemination of knowledge of students at the end of the course not only influences self-care but also health promotion in the social sphere.
Final considerations:
Knowledge is important in self-care and caring for others. The dissemination of knowledge becomes evident according to the complexity of the course. Stable relationships may interfere with the use or disuse of condoms in sexual relationships, a misnomer present in today’s society.

Objective:
To reflect about the barriers experienced by the deaf population during the COVID-19 pandemic, the proposals to overcome communication barriers in health care and the role of public policies in effecting the social inclusion of deaf people.
Methods:
Reflection based on studies on health care for deaf people, the COVID-19 pandemic and public accessibility policies.
Results:
The global crisis of COVID-19 has deepened pre-existing inequalities in the world, in addition to highlighting the vulnerability of people with disabilities, including deaf. Government, institutional and social initiatives to mitigate difficulties in communicating to deaf people have been made, but they are still insufficient to guarantee protection for them in this pandemic and full inclusion in health care.
Final considerations:
Social inclusion, supported by law, and the linguistic accessibility of deaf people still need to generate broad and concrete actions so that deaf people can enjoy their rights as citizens.

Objective:
Reporting the experience of use of the PLISSIT model as tool for the nursing care of breast cancer survivors with sexual dysfunction.
Method:
case study developed from January to August 2017, in the outpatient mastology clinic and sexuality service of a maternity in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, with 15 breast cancer survivors.
Results:
sexual counseling sessions were conducted using the PLISSIT model to address sexual issues, highlighting the particularities of women who experience survival after the treatment of breast cancer.
Final considerations:
the model used in the practice of nursing care is customary and allows identifying issues experienced by women, as it has easy availability and practicality for use by nursing professionals, helping to address sexual matters with greater tranquility.
