Objectives:
to analyze the legislation issued during the COVID-19 pandemic for nursing education and immediate consequences.
Methods:
documentary research, whose source was the legislation issued for nursing education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thirty-two documents were analyzed and submitted to a collection instrument.
Results:
contradictions and consequences for nursing education following the guidelines and law of guidelines and bases were revealed. The consequences of the law affected the quality of teaching, equal access, exemption from minimum school days and course abbreviation. Regarding the guidelines, there was a lack of conditions for developing skills, in addition to the attempt to update them. Concerning internships, acting during the pandemic put students at risk, and their abbreviation prevented them from consolidating knowledge and skills.
Final Considerations:
remote teaching did not guarantee the quality and equality of teaching, weakened the development of skills, not taking into account nursing’s educational needs.

Objectives:
to develop a middle-range nursing theory for care in the context of cardiovascular risk.
Methods:
a theoretical development study, through induction through research and ICNP® practice standards, carried out in six stages: concept analysis; ICNP® terminological subset structuring; theory contextualization and purpose; proposition construction; modeling; and assumption construction.
Results:
the Theory of Care in the Context of Cardiovascular Risk has a middle-range scope, describing care, prescribing actions to promote health and reduce cardiovascular risk. Thirteen propositions were constructed in three categories (nursing metaparadigm, central and factorial concepts), two models and 16 assumptions.
Final Considerations:
the theory contributes to the construction of knowledge arising from the nursing process for care in the context of cardiovascular risk, generating propositions, assumptions and modeling, which will enable theoretical testing.

Objectives:
to validate the content of a guidance guide on self-care in the postoperative period of breast surgery for breast cancer.
Methods:
a methodological study with content validity, carried out with 15 expert nurses and physiotherapists, between May and July 2022. Recruitment took place from the Lattes Platform, using snowball sampling. The level of relevance and representativeness for each item was verified using the Content Validity Index (CVI). It was considered valid when CVI was equal to or greater than 78% (0.78).
Results:
from the initial total of 37 items, two were excluded, as they had insufficient practical relevance and theoretical relevance, and another five items which, although presenting a CVI lower than the established cut-off, were suggested to be rewritten and grouped with other similar items.
Conclusions:
thirty items were considered valid and demonstrated important and significant characteristics, constituting suitable material for application in clinical practice.

Objective:
to characterize the patients’ anxiety in the preoperative period of heart surgery.
Method:
We conducted a cross-sectional study in which 106 patients, between one and five days from the date of surgery, were interviewed using a socio-demographic questionnaire and the Beck Anxiety Inventory.
Results:
The evaluated patients accounted for 59.4% (63) in minimal anxiety and 19.8% (21) in the range considered severe, and the sample had a mean in the mild anxiety level (15.8±19.79). The women had scores (22.13±23.41) significantly (p=0.003) higher than men (10.76±14.71); as well as patients who had undergone previous heart surgery (24.4±28.05 X 13.14±15.74). There was no significant difference between older adults and younger patients, nor in terms of weight variations, presence of diabetes, or alcoholism.
Conclusion:
We reinforces the importance of nurses in recognizing the preoperative anxiety and intervene through strategies of health education and nursing visits.

Objective:
determine which tool (NEMS and NAS) is most suitable for use in intensive care units using a quality-based methodology.
Method:
after identifying the opportunity for improvement “Inadequacy of the NEMS for determining nursing workload in the intensive care unit (ICU)”, we assessed the NEMS and the NAS, as a proposed improvement to the NEMS, using quality improvement cycles methodology based on the following criteria: measurement of daily nursing workload on a daily and shift basis; the tool encompasses all nursing activities undertaken in the ICU; and workload assessed per patient and unit.
Results:
there was no significant difference in level of compliance for the NEMS (67%). The comparison NEMS-NAS showed that there was a statistically significant improvement for all criteria except criterion 1. The NEMS only assesses criterion 1 (64.22%); while the NAS assessed all four criteria, obtaining a compliance rate of 64.74% for criteria 1, 2, and 4, and 100% for criterion 3.
Conclusion:
the NAS is more suitable for measuring nursing workload in UCIs.

Objective:
identify how filial care and the relationship with the elderly occur in families of different nationalities.
Method:
qualitative study carried out in a town on the triple frontier of Paraná, comprising 33 elderly people of five different nationalities, adopting the Symbolic Interactionism and the Grounded Theory as theoretical-methodological strategy.
Results:
among Lebanese people, the Muslim religion teaches children to obey and respect parents; among French, distant family relationships and institutions for the elderly stand out. Paraguayans hold close family relationships; Chinese people consider filial care as a tacit obligation; Brazilians, in turn, tend to embrace and take care of their parents in old age.
Conclusion:
family care prevailed, but the traditions of each society lead the actions of that care, demanding health professionals’ capacity of recognizing in which context the elderly is inserted.
