Objective:
to analyze the spatial-temporal pattern of childbirths and flow of postpartum women assisted at a regional reference maternity hospital.
Methods:
ecological study of 4,081 childbirths, between September 2018 and December 2021, at a public maternity hospital in the Baixo Tocantins region, Pará, Brazil. With data collected from five sources, a geographic database was constructed, and spatial analysis was used with Kernel density interpolator. Maps were generated using QGis/3.5 and TerraView/4.3, calculating chi-square (p<0.05).
Results:
the highest concentrations of normal and cesarean childbirths were observed in Barcarena (n=2,558/62.68%), Abaetetuba (n=750/18.38%), Moju (n=363/8.89%) and Igarapé-Miri (n=219/5.37%). Among the municipalities in the region, ten had obstetric beds, totaling 210 beds. In this scenario, postpartum women traveled up to 288 km to reach the maternity hospital.
Conclusions:
long distances between certain municipalities of residence and maternity hospital, and low supply of obstetric beds, were identified as risk factors for unfavorable obstetric outcomes.

Objective:
to assess pain management in infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and discuss its articulation with the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on promoting neonatal well-being.
Method:
a documentary study, retrospective in nature and quantitative approach, conducted in a NICU of a public hospital in Paraná, Brazil, between January and July 2022, with 386 medical records of infants, hospitalized for more than 24 hours, between 2019 and 2021. Data were subjected to descriptive and inferential analysis, considering p-value<0.05 as a statistical difference. National ethical guidelines were respected.
Results:
all infants underwent at least one painful procedure, but only 13.7% had documented pain. Pharmacological interventions, such as fentanyl (25.9%), and non-pharmacological interventions, such as breastfeeding encouragement (86%) were used. Only 2.8% were reassessed.
Conclusion:
there was a devaluation of neonatal pain management that may perpetuate neonatal well-being and sustainable development.

Objective:
to unveil women’s existential movement after cardiac surgery.
Method:
qualitative phenomenological study. The research setting was a hospital in Minas Gerais, in which ten women were interviewed between December 2011 and January 2012.
Results:
after hospital discharge, the women experienced physical, social and emotional impairments, and expressed the desire to go back to the time before their diagnosis, because they felt as though they still had heart disease. This vague and average understanding led to three units of meaning that, from a Heideggerian hermeneutic point of view, revealed the phenomenon of cardiac surgery as a present circumstance that limited the participants’ daily lives.
Conclusion:
nurses supporting women patients after cardiac surgery should promote health considering existential facets that are expressed during care. The bases for comprehensive care are revealed in singular and whole meetings of subjectivity.

Method:
qualitative study with theoretical saturation when analyzing the 10th non-directive interview, having as reference Grounded Theory, Symbolic Interactionism and Bioethics.
Results:
the core category – from frustration to coping with dignified nursing care for finitude: the acceptance of death as a therapeutic and intervenient component – emerged from the comparison of the sub-processes: when the nurse does not feel prepared for caring for death, accepting death as a therapeutic phenomenon and developing coping strategies.
Conclusion:
according to Symbolic Interactionism, a novice professional’s frustration in caring for an individual for death is related to his/her interaction and interpretation of the situation as he/she feels prepared only to care for individuals for life.

Objective:
to analyze the attributes, antecedents and consequents of the family conference concept.
Method:
Walker and Avante’s method for concept analysis and the stages of the integrative review process, with a selection of publications in the PubMed, Cinahl and Lilacs databases focusing on the family conference theme in the context of palliative care.
Results:
the most cited antecedents were the presence of doubts and the need to define a care plan. Family reunion and working instrument were evidenced as attributes. With respect to consequents, to promote the effective communication and to establish a plan of consensual action were the most remarkable elements.
Final considerations:
the scarcity of publications on the subject was observed, as well as and the limitation of the empirical studies to the space of intensive therapy. Thus, by analyzing the attributes, antecedents and consequents of the concept it was possible to follow their evolution and to show their efficacy and effectiveness as a therapeutic intervention.

Method:
integrative review of MEDLINE, CUMED, LILACS and SciELO databases, from articles developed in this area, published between 2005 and 2015, in English, Portuguese or Spanish.
Results:
22 articles were included, six scales were used to evaluate health-related quality of life scores: three generic and three specific. No specific scale for adults with sickle cell disease has been adapted to Brazilian Portuguese so far. Patients affected by frequent painful crises, with low adherence to treatment, had a compromised quality of life.
Conclusion:
Selected studies have shown that patients with sickle cell disease have worse scores than the general population. These indicators should be instrumental to the nurse in the proposal of interventions and strategies of assistance and socio-educational, with a view to improving the quality of life of this clientele.

Views0See moreABSTRACT
Objective:
To synthesize and interpret findings and conclusions of qualitative research addressing the experience of the father in the care of the child with cancer.
Method:
Meta-synthesis of 16 qualitative studies from six databases, analyzed through taxonomic analysis.
Results:
Child and adolescent cancer have several repercussions on the daily life of the father, especially related to the stigma around the disease, the fear of the unknown and the social and family role. Faced with the illness and the need to care for the child, the father seeks to recover normality in the family and transitions between hegemonic masculine behaviors and practices culturally recognized as female.
Final Considerations:
The complex experience of the father, influenced by masculinities, was evidenced. The limitations regard the restricted understanding of the contextual specificities of the experiences, due to the limited characteristics of the parents and children described in the studies. The knowledge produced is useful to promote involvement of fathers in the care of the child, as well as to strengthen and assist him in this task.
