Objective:
To identify in the literature and summarize the elements and characteristics of fatherhood involved during pregnancy.
Method:
Scoping review that used PRISMA-ScR guide to report this review. Searches were carried out in PubMed, CINAHL, PsycInfo, LILACS and Scopus. Google search engines and public health agency websites assisted in searches of gray literature and Rayyan in screening studies.
Results:
A total of 406 articles were identified, of which 16 made up the final sample. Five elements make up an involved fatherhood: feeling like a father, being a provider and protector, being a partner and participant in pregnancy, participating in prenatal appointments and feeling prepared to take care of a baby.
Conclusion:
Fathers want to be involved in prenatal care, but feel excluded from this process. Public policies that encourage paternal involvement and healthcare professional training to better welcome and promote paternal involvement are of paramount importance.

Objectives:
To evaluate the internal consistency and construct validity of the QLQ-MY20 for assessing the quality of life in multiple myeloma survivors in Chile.
Methods:
This was a cross-sectional study conducted between March 2020 and December 2022. It involved 118 individuals from two public hospitals. The QLQ-C30 and QLQ-MY20 questionnaires were used. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha(α), and construct validity was evaluated through hypothesis testing (Mann-Whitney and Spearman correlation).
Results:
The average age of participants was 67.2 years (SD=9.2). Internal consistency for the complete scale was α=0.779, for the “disease symptoms” dimension α=0.671, for the “side effects of treatments” dimension α=0.538, and for the “future perspective” dimension α=0.670. Four of the five construct validity hypotheses were confirmed: women, individuals with worse performance status, those with pain, and those with worse fatigue showed more symptoms.
Conclusions:
The Chilean version of the QLQ-MY20 demonstrates adequate internal consistency and construct validity.

Objective:
to learn the meanings attributed to pregnancy loss by women with Lupus.
Method:
qualitative research, based on Symbolic Interactionism and Grounded Theory. Data collection took place between January and August 2022 through in-depth interviews. Data analysis went through the stages of initial and focused coding.
Results:
seventeen women participated. The central phenomenon “The climb to motherhood: falls and overcoming” was constructed, consisting of three categories: “Falling to the ground during the climb: the experience of pregnancy loss”; “Getting up and following the path: new attempts to conceive”; and “Remembering the journey: meanings attributed to pregnancy losses”.
Final considerations:
experiencing pregnancy is, analogously, like climbing a mountain, where obstacles need to be overcome to reach the summit. The experience of pregnancy loss is seen as complex, especially when there is fragility in healthcare and a lack of awareness regarding feelings of loss and grief.

Objectives:
to assess the effectiveness of guidelines on fall prevention in a group of older adults in Primary Health Care.
Methods:
a cross-sectional study, carried out with older adults selected by a simple random sample (274; N=1,234). Data covered sociodemographic and socioeconomic variables, marital status, health conditions, factors associated with falls and participation in the prevention group. Student’s t test was used, and dichotomous variables were used by the chi-square test. The project met ethical requirements.
Results:
sample with female profile (61.7%), married, with low education, mean age of 71.69 years. The factors associated with falls identified were female sex, medicalization and participation in the prevention group. There was no protective association between participation in a fall prevention group in older adults and a decrease in the number of falls.
Conclusions:
based on evidence, a personalized intervention during the nursing visit is suggested as a strategy to prevent falls.

Objective:
to identify the prevalence and predictors of frailty in older people in Primary Health Care.
Method:
this is a descriptive and correlational study, carried out in a convenience sample of 136 older people in the community. Data were collected through a sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire and frailty phenotype. Student’s t test or U-Mann-Whitney test, chi-square and binary logistic regression were used for data analysis.
Results:
the prevalence of frailty was 26.5% (n=36). Frail individuals had older age (p=0.011), worse self-rated health (p=0.001) and lower physical capacity (p<0.001). In the multivariable regression, it was observed that frail individuals had older age (Odds Ratio=1.111; 95% confidence interval=1.026-1.203) and worse physical capacity (Odds Ratio=0.673; 95% confidence interval=0.508-0.893).
Conclusions:
the prevalence of frailty in older people in Primary Health Care was considerable. Advanced age and worse physical capacity were the most relevant predictors of frailty in the elderly.

Objective:
To analyze the association between self-esteem and quality of life in the elderly.
Methods:
Cross-sectional web survey developed with 519 elderly people. Participants filled out three data collection instruments developed on the Google Forms platform and widely disseminated through all of Brazil. Fisher’s exact test, Mann-Whitney, Pearson correlation, and linear regression with 95% confidence interval were used.
Results:
Self-esteem was associated with all quality-of-life facets: sensory skills [β= 1.307; p<0.001]; autonomy [β= 2.101; p<0.001]; past, present, and future activities [β= 2.486; p<0.001]; social presence [β= 2.547; p<0.001]; death and dying [β= 2.175; p<0.001]; and intimacy [β=2.378; p<0.001].
Conclusion:
There is a positive and statistically significant association between self-esteem and quality of life in the elderly. We therefore suggest the development of local policies capable of raising this age groups’ self-esteem and reaffirming aging as a new possibility for discoveries and pleasure.

Objectives:
to understand the challenges of introducing gender debate in nursing training from undergraduate students’ perspective.
Methods:
a qualitative, exploratory-explanatory study. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview applied to 12 undergraduate nursing students at a public university in São Paulo. For data treatment and analysis, the Discourse of the Collective Subject was used in light of Boaventura de Sousa Santos’ knowledge production paradigm theoretical framework.
Results:
nursing education remains centered on the traditional scientific model, neglecting gender and strengthening stereotypes aimed at the feminization of the profession.
Final Considerations:
nursing training has a challenge of implementing actions that deepen the gender theme. Therefore, some strategies are suggested, such as improving professor training and appropriating emancipatory pedagogical practices; reviewing pedagogical political projects; curriculum theorization and restructuring; problematizing gender issues for nursing leadership.

Objective:
Analyze the meaning of being an elderly person living in a long-term institution.
Method:
Qualitative study based on Martin Heidegger’s thought. Twelve phenomenological interviews were conducted with people aged over 60 years living in a long-term institution for the elderly in the city of Itabuna, Bahia, Brazil.
Results:
The units of meaning identified were: experience of progressive loss of autonomy and independence, perception of living in an institution as an inevitable circumstance; and being-with becoming being-alone/being-lonely. After the identification of ontic aspects and hermeneutical understanding, the unit of meaning was constructed: meaning of being an elderly person living in a long-term institution.
Final considerations:
The ontological needs referring to being an elderly person remain forgotten. As we are ontic and ontological, limited care to the ontic instance indicates deficiencies in institutionalization. Improvements are required to ensure the right to age with quality of life to this population.

Objective:
to describe the sociodemographic and health characteristics of elderly people, measure the score of total resilience and by sex and verify the association of sociodemographic and health variables with total resilience and by sex.
Methods:
this is a household survey with 808 elderly people, assessed by validated instruments. Student’s t test and multiple linear regression (p<0.05).
Results:
most were female, 60|-|79 years old. The total resilience score was 78.06, for men 81.53 and for women, 76.32. Total resilience was associated with males; positive self-perceived health; greater participation in Advanced Activities of Daily Living; fewer morbidities; absence of depressive symptoms. Among men and women, resilience was associated with greater participation in Advanced Activities of Daily Living and absence of depressive symptoms and, specifically, among women, positive self-perceived health.
Conclusion:
these results contribute to nursing care, aiming to encourage resilience.
