Objective:
to elaborate and validate a protocol for the care of the nurse to the septic patient in Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
Method:
instrument validation study. Two steps were followed: instrument development and content validation according to the Delphi technique.
Results:
the validation of contents related to the nurse’s assistance to the septic patient in intensive care was initially composed of eighteen items analyzed by the evaluators/judges. From this, through the Content Validity Index (CVI), thirteen items with strong evidence of validation were identified, CVI = 0.79. Then the instrument was refined, being then composed of fifteen items, which in the second phase Delphi had a percentage of agreement above 84% for the variables pertinent to the protocol.
Conclusion:
the method was effective to validate the contents of a protocol for the nurse’s assistance to the septic patient in the ICU.

Objective:
to assess potential failures in the care process with orthotics, prosthetics and special materials in a high-complexity hospital.
Method:
an intervention study conducted from March to October 2013. This process was assessed with the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) service tool. The data were analysed according to the risk and the corrective measures were defined.
Results:
no failure was classified as high risk and the corrective measures indicated as low and moderate risk had the following improvement initiatives suggested: standardize the material records in the information system; create a specific form to require materials; hire specialized technical personnel and create a continuous education program.
Conclusion:
all the suggested initiatives were implemented and helped to reduce the assistance risks for patients due to failures in this process. The actions increase safety levels and provide higher quality of service.

Objective:
To verify the effectiveness of nursing interventions based on the Imogene King’s Theory of Goal Attainment, on improving care for people with diabetes and adherence to treatment.
Method:
Quasi-experimental, longitudinal, randomized, simple study in a Primary Health Care Unit, in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará state, Brazil. The sample consisted of 60 people with diabetes, divided into intervention and control groups, whose collection occurred from February to August 2013.
Results:
In the intervention group, a significant adherence of the patients to the goals defined in the study was found. In the control, there was improvement in some aspects of the treatment.
Conclusion:
With these results, it was possible to conclude the feasibility of using Theory of Goal Attainment in the positive aspects for adherence to diabetes treatment and improvement of quality of life.

Objective:
to verify if the improvement of social and emotional skills reduces bullying victimization in 6th grade students 12 months after the end of the intervention.
Method:
Quasi-experimental study with 78 students who were bullying victims. A cognitive behavioral intervention based on social skills was conducted with the intervention group. The eight sessions addressed politeness, making friendships, self-control, emotional expressiveness, empathy, assertiveness and solution of interpersonal problems. Data were analyzed using Poisson regression with random effect.
Results:

Objective:
To structure the Computerized Nursing Process using the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) version 2.0 to emergency care units in a computerized structure.
Method:
This is a methodological and technological research that followed the stages: (1) establishment of the development team and resources; (2) adequacy of clinical situations, diagnoses and nursing interventions for the emergency area; (3) association of diagnoses and interventions based on ICNP®; (4) organization and codification of clinical evaluation, diagnoses and nursing interventions; (5) transfer of data to the a computerized platform.
Results:
Readjustment and construction of 1,445 possibilities of clinical evaluations associated with 961 different diagnoses and their corresponding interventions to the most frequent situations in emergency services.
Conclusion:
ICNP® has a strong and solid form for the development of the computerized nursing process able to support nurses in safe decision-making to improve the quality of health care.

Objective:
To create competencies for the educational actions of nurses in the care and management work processes at the Family Health Strategy.
Method:
This is an exploratory, descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, on nurses of the Family Health Strategy (FHS) from a municipality in the Greater São Paulo. It was performed through semi-structured interviews and workshops.
Results:
There is a set of specific competencies for the educational actions of the nurse in care work, geared towards meeting the health needs of users/community; and for educational actions in management work, focused on work organization of the health team, indicating the importance of this work to FHS.
Final considerations:
Creating competencies proved to be significant to reflect on the educational actions of the FHS nurses and can be used as a strategy in permanent education processes.

Objective:
to evaluate the attribute longitudinality in different models of assistance in Primary Health Care and observe its association with demographic, socioeconomic and health care characteristics.
Method:
a cross-sectional study, carried out in 2015 with 1076 adult users of primary care services in the 32 cities of the 4th Regional Health Care Core of Rio Grande do Sul State. The Primary Care Assessment Tool was used with definition of low (<6.6) or high (≥6.6) score for longitudinality. The association with independent variables was observed through the Poisson regression.
Results:
the attribute was better assessed in the Family Health Strategy and associate with age, housing health region and care model.
Conclusion:
the study points out the Family Health Strategy as a promoter of longitudinal care, and so, it suggests the expansion of this assistance model coverage for quality improvement in health care.

Objective:
To compare the knowledge, attitude and practice of older adults’ caregivers before and after an educational intervention in the domains of the care between caregiver and older adult, feeding, bathing, hygiene and mobility and transportation.
Method:
Quasi-experimental study carried out with 82 caregivers, of which 34 participated in the intervention. Interviews were conducted through a knowledge, attitude and practice research on the older adults` care
Results:
The educational intervention led to improvements in knowledge, attitude and practice, with statistical significance of attitude (p <0.020) and practice (p <0.001), in the domain of the care between caregiver and older adult; knowledge (p <0.001) and practice (p <0.003) in feeding; Knowledge (p <0.001) and practice (p <0.001) in bathing and hygiene; and knowledge (p <0.001), attitude (p <0.001) and practice (p <0.001) in mobility and transportation. The analysis of the 34 caregivers who started and completed the study showed an improvement in attitude in most of the domains.
Conclusion:
the educational intervention is an effective and viable strategy for older adults’ caregivers.

to investigate the report of vaccination against Hepatitis B, verification of immunization and the factors associated with dosages of anti-HBs.
Method:
we collected blood samples from those reported that they had one or more doses of the vaccine. We evaluated the association of the dosage of anti- HBs with sociodemographic conditions, occupational and behavioral. The associations were verified by Mann Whitney and Kruskal Wallis and correlation Spermann by linear regression using SPSS® 17.0.
Results:
among the 761 respondents, 504 (66.1%) were vaccinated, 52.5 % received three doses, 30.4 % verified immunization. Of the 397 evaluated for the determination of anti-Hbs, 16.4% were immune.
Conclusion:
it was found that longer duration of work was associated with higher levels of anti-HBs, while levels of smoking were inversely associated with anti-HBs. These workers need for vaccination campaigns.

To identify the mental disorders carriers’ perception, the smokers ones, about the decreasing number of cigarettes during psychiatric hospitalization.
Method:
Exploratory study with 96 hospitalized carriers of mental disorders who are smokers: G1 (34 subjects hospitalized when was allowed one cigarette by hour) and G2 (62 subjects hospitalized when it was reduced to eight cigarette by day). Semi-structured questionnaire. Thematic content analysis.
Results:
The G1 admitted satisfaction with the restriction – smoking during hospitalization as entitlement. The G2 resists the restriction change occurred without dialogue or support. In spite of the difficulties, some attitude changes about the cigarette were noticed such as increase of the responsibility, discovery of the ability to reduce smoking and the meaning of its role.
Conclusion:
Some subjects understand the smoking health policy change as punishment, while others as opportunity to think about the role of cigarette in their life.

the aim of this study was to identify factors associated with family functionality of non-institutionalized long-lived subjects, who were residents in Goiânia (GO), Brazil.
Method:
this was a population-based epidemiological study with cross-sectional outline. Evaluation scales of the functional and cognitive capacities were used. Family dynamics was measured using the Adaptation, Partnership, Growth, Affection, and Resolve (APGAR) instrument by making home interviews with 131 long-lived individuals.
Results:
there was prevalence of the female gender, average of age of 83.87 years old, widowhood condition, and residence in a big family, primary schooling, and self-perception of regular health. A great amount showed independence for self-care and partial dependence for daily life instrumental activities. Family functionality prevailed with score average of 9.06 points.
Conclusion:
in conclusion, family functionality in long-lived subjects is associated with self-perception of poor/bad health, osteoporosis, and fall. Results allowed characterizing long-lived subjects’ family functionality with the aim of valuing and prioritizing family as a caregiver.

the aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of non-adherence to antihypertensive drug treatment and its association with factors bio-socio-economic and welfare.
Method:
it was a descriptive, cross-sectional study, performed with 422 hypertensive individuals. Data were collected through home interviews, conducted between December 2011 and March 2012.
Results:
the results showed that the respondents were mostly female, married, elderly, low income and little time of diagnosis. Were considered non adherent to medication 42.65% of participants. Non-Caucasian hypertensive patients, with fewer than eight years of schooling, who did not regularly attend doctor’s appointments, took more than two anti-hypertensive medications and did not have private health insurance, showed higher likelihood of not complying with the drug treatment.
Conclusion:
these findings suggest that hypertensive patients with unfavorable socioeconomic characteristics and difficulty of access to the service require different interventions in order to encourage them to adhere to medication treatment.

this study aimed to assess adherence and knowledge of manicures/pedicures on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Methods:
it was a survey with 235 manicures/pedicures in salons, Belo Horizonte/Brazil. Data were analyzed with the software Statistical package for the social sciences (17.0), using descriptive statistics, chi-square and logistic regression.
Results:
the adherence and the knowledge of the professional were evaluated using the median of the results, obtaining 52% and 63% respectively. The professionals younger than 31 were more likely (2.54 times) to adhere to PPE and those who claimed to have done biosafety course and to use uniform during work, had better chance of understanding (2.86 and 3.12 times, respectively). The majority (83.4 %) stated that the use of PPE should occur for all procedures, meanwhile 71.5 % cited not use them.
Conclusions:
the results indicate the poor adherence to PPE, strengthen occupational biological risk and need for training of these professionals.

to analyze the predictive value of the Manchester Triage System in relation to clinical outcome of patients.
Methods:
prospective observational study of 577 patients admitted to the ER and subjected to risk classification. The Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System-28 (TISS-28) was used to measure the severity of patients (primary outcome) and secondary outcomes: high / transfer, death, and length of hospital stay. Descriptive and univariate analyzes were conducted.
Results:
patients classified as red are 10.7 times more likely to have scores above 14 in TISS-28 in relation to others. Patients classified as red have 5.9 times more chance of progression to death compared to others. Patients of high priority service are 1.5 times more likely to be hospitalized over five days than low priority.
Conclusions:
STM proved a good predictor of clinical outcomes.

the present study aimed to identify and characterize nursing companies managed by entrepreneur nurses registered at the Commercial Registry of São Paulo by 2011.
Method:
it’s a descriptive, exploratory study, whose data collection, made throughout January 2012, was carried out on the Commercial Registry of Sao Paulo website. This non-governmental body has the function of registering the opening of companies and supervising their trade situation.
Results and conclusion:
this study allowed us to identify that the entrepreneur nurse is a growing reality through the identification of 196 companies opened by these professionals. Afterwards, it was analyzed their time of functioning, the main economic activity of the company, capital value, percentage of nurse partners and the distribution of companies by region of Sao Paulo State.

the study aims at discussing the significations apprehended by the non-blood donators, considering the context and the consequences of the acting of the nurse in hemotherapy.
Method:
it is a qualitative approach, with theoretical frame of Symbolic Interactionism and Grounded Theory method. The data production was carried out by intensive interview with subjects of three sample groups of a University Hospital of Rio de Janeiro City.
Results:
the phenomenon originated two analysis categories: “Perceiving the blood matter” and “Reflecting about the blood donation campaigns”. It was observed that the environment of the donor is not composed by contact with the other and the information that it can achieve, including the media.
Conclusion:
these were the main basis for the knowledge of blood donation according to their beliefs, culture and values. Therefore, all these aspects must be considered by the nurse acting on donors capture.

Objective:
to analyze the spatial-temporal pattern of childbirths and flow of postpartum women assisted at a regional reference maternity hospital.
Methods:
ecological study of 4,081 childbirths, between September 2018 and December 2021, at a public maternity hospital in the Baixo Tocantins region, Pará, Brazil. With data collected from five sources, a geographic database was constructed, and spatial analysis was used with Kernel density interpolator. Maps were generated using QGis/3.5 and TerraView/4.3, calculating chi-square (p<0.05).
Results:
the highest concentrations of normal and cesarean childbirths were observed in Barcarena (n=2,558/62.68%), Abaetetuba (n=750/18.38%), Moju (n=363/8.89%) and Igarapé-Miri (n=219/5.37%). Among the municipalities in the region, ten had obstetric beds, totaling 210 beds. In this scenario, postpartum women traveled up to 288 km to reach the maternity hospital.
Conclusions:
long distances between certain municipalities of residence and maternity hospital, and low supply of obstetric beds, were identified as risk factors for unfavorable obstetric outcomes.

Objective:
to identify knowledge production about nurses’ contributions to improving healthy and sustainable public spaces.
Methods:
an integrative review carried out in February 2023 in electronic databases. Studies that answered the research question and that were available in full, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, were included.
Results:
a total of five articles were selected. The findings highlighted the importance of educational projects in the training of local managers and community autonomy; citizen participation and health promotion as ways to implement Sustainable Development Goal 11; nurses as facilitators of collective care; new health practices and modes of producing subjectivity; and use of public transportation, bicycles and/or walking in these spaces.
Final considerations:
there is a clear need for greater incentives from local governments to develop effective sustainability strategies that are led by nurses and the community.

Objective:
to assess pain management in infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and discuss its articulation with the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on promoting neonatal well-being.
Method:
a documentary study, retrospective in nature and quantitative approach, conducted in a NICU of a public hospital in Paraná, Brazil, between January and July 2022, with 386 medical records of infants, hospitalized for more than 24 hours, between 2019 and 2021. Data were subjected to descriptive and inferential analysis, considering p-value<0.05 as a statistical difference. National ethical guidelines were respected.
Results:
all infants underwent at least one painful procedure, but only 13.7% had documented pain. Pharmacological interventions, such as fentanyl (25.9%), and non-pharmacological interventions, such as breastfeeding encouragement (86%) were used. Only 2.8% were reassessed.
Conclusion:
there was a devaluation of neonatal pain management that may perpetuate neonatal well-being and sustainable development.

Objective:
To understand the clinical and epidemiological characteristics, outcomes, and nursing care of adult patients affected by COVID-19 in the Intensive Care Unit.
Methods:
This is a quantitative, retrospective, and descriptive study. The study participants were clinical and epidemiological statistical reports. Variables analyzed included age, gender, race, comorbidities, signs and symptoms, length of hospital stay, use of mechanical ventilation, medications, infections, monitoring, invasive devices, positioning, diet, comfort, and clinical outcomes.
Results:
The majority of individuals were men, of white race, with a mean age of 63 years, hypertensive, diabetic, and obese. The average length of hospital stay was 16 days. Most required invasive mechanical ventilation, vasopressor drugs, sedoanalgesia, and neuromuscular blockers.
Conclusion:
Nursing care is related to monitoring, ventilation, medication administration, installation of devices, prone positioning, diet administration, and providing comfort.

Objective:
To assess the morbidity profile and identify factors associated with frailty syndrome in post-COVID-19 elderly patients treated at the only Reference Center for Elderly Health Care in northern Minas Gerais.
Methods:
This is a case series study, utilizing the Clinical-Functional Vulnerability Index-20 (CFVI-20) and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) to characterize and evaluate the health condition of the group. To define the variables associated with frailty, a multivariate analysis was conducted.
Results:
The study included 204 elderly individuals, with a predominance of females (63.7%). The variables associated with frailty were cognitive impairment (OR: 2.95; 95% CI: 1.12-7.80; p=0.029), the presence of five or more comorbidities (OR: 11.55; 95% CI: 2.22-60.01; p=0.004), and impairment in instrumental activities of daily living (OR: 41.97; 95% CI: 5.47-321.93; p<0.001).
Conclusions:
The results of this study highlight the need for a well-established and prepared coordination of integrated care to meet the demands of the post-COVID-19 elderly population.

Objective:
To characterize nursing care management strategies for addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Method:
A descriptive, qualitative study conducted with 22 nurse professionals at a University Hospital in Southern Brazil. Data collection through interviews in June and August 2021, analyzed according to Bardin’s Content Analysis and the theoretical framework of complex thinking.
Results:
The identified strategies were organized into four categories: Reorganization of health services; People management and emergency admission; Multiprofessional articulation; and Bedside nursing care.
Final Considerations:
Professional performance revealed a complex interplay between leadership and care management practices, even in the face of working condition restrictions, and were understood as crucial in the pandemic scenario.
