Objective:
To analyze the configuration of power relations among the multiprofessional team in the bedside round process in the hospital.
Methods:
Qualitative research with data analyzed through discourse analysis, based on Michel Foucault’s theoretical framework. From September to December 2022, we conducted interviews and field observations with the multiprofessional team at a hospital in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, as well as qualitative, semi-structured interviews with 37 professionals.
Results:
The participants pointed out that the experiences of the professionals involved in bedside rounds depend on how the physician conducts the process, and the physician-centered process makes it difficult for other professionals in the team to participate.
Final considerations:
The way hospitals organize bedside rounds does not promote knowledge articulation for their professionals. It hinders the circulation of power and harms interdisciplinary work in a process that maintains the physician as the main actor in clinical decisions.

Objectives:
to characterize the sociodemographic and psychological aspects of university students who sought psychiatric care at a Student Support Center of a Federal University and to analyze associations between mental health issues and predisposing factors.
Methods:
a retrospective analysis of 103 medical records was conducted. The statistical analysis consisted of two steps: a descriptive analysis and a predictive analysis using the Logistic Regression Model.
Results:
the majority of the students were female. Symptoms of anxiety, depression, and insomnia were the main reasons for seeking care. Students who reported having emotional difficulties that negatively impacted their studies and those who had undergone some form of health treatment showed a higher probability of experiencing anxiety symptoms. Notable correlations were found between anxiety and emotional difficulties, depression and diarrhea, and insomnia and a sedentary lifestyle.
Conclusions:
symptoms of anxiety, depression, and insomnia led students to seek psychiatric care at the university. Understanding the predisposing factors for mental health issues in university students can inform care strategies and promote academic success.

Objectives:
to identify the strategies found in the literature for increasing vaccination coverage among children in Brazil. It is justified mainly by the current scenario of falling vaccination coverage.
Methods:
systematic literature review. The search was carried out in the Pubmed (MEDLINE), Embase and Scopus databases, following the PRISMA guidelines.
Results:
initially, 4,824 results were returned. In the end, 6 studies were included for narrative synthesis using the SWiM methodology. Of these, 50% dealt with studies related to the Bolsa Família Program (PBF). The others explored strategies for approaching parents directly, Rapid Vaccination Monitoring (MRV) and the Community Health Agents Program (PACS). The PBF did not guarantee compliance with the conditionality of keeping vaccinations up to date. The MRV and PACS are effective strategies, especially because they allow active search for absentees.
Conclusions:
we conclude that more publications are needed on strategies to increase vaccination coverage among children in Brazil.

Objectives:
to analyze the relationship between the nursing practice environment and hospital sociotechnical complexity as perceived by nurses.
Methods:
a sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was conducted in a hospital in southern Brazil. The Brazilian version of the Practice Environment Scale-Nursing Work Index and the Complexity Characterization Questionnaire were administered to 132 nurses. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 participants, and the data were subjected to thematic analysis. Data integration was achieved through a connection approach.
Results:
the nursing practice environment was found to be favorable, except in the subscale concerning Staffing and Resource Adequacy, where complexity was present in the activities. The three emerging categories explained human and technical aspects related to complexity in the practice environment, quality of care, and patient safety. Unexpected variability was inversely correlated with the practice environment.
Conclusions:
the study results indicate a relationship between these constructs, with implications for the quality and the safety of care.

Objective:
to investigate the possibilities of positive and negative association of improvisation and the understanding of what will be the planning by managers and coordinators of tuberculosis control programs, in a context of transference of the Directly Observed Treatment policy.
Method:
this is a qualitative study, developed through semi-structured interviews analyzed in the light of French Discourse Analysis.
Results:
there was a weakening of the constructive and operational planning process, which is at the mercy of political will and the need of putting out fires. This, in turn, along with achômetro (Brazilian popular expression used on unsubstantiated point of view or opinion that is based solely and exclusively on the intuition of the person who says it), composed the metaphor of improvisation in its negative perspective, understood by automatism and unsystematization process. Improvisation, however, emerged as a representation of innovation, creativity, and contextual change.
Final considerations:
both the planning and the transfer of public policies constitute processes that need to be strengthened and qualified in the field of public health.

Objective:
To apprehend social representation of health care professionals on HIV/AIDS and to compare it with a subgroup of physicians.
Method:
Qualitative research based on the Theory of Social Representations. Free associations for the term HIV/AIDS were collected from 73 workers of public services specialized in HIV/AIDS, in Salvador-Bahia. The results were analyzed in the EVOC software.
Results:
For all health professionals, HIV/AIDS is associated with “prejudice, care, disease and prevention”, and for the subgroup of physicians it is associated with the term “prevention”. Health professionals represented HIV/AIDS similarly to society in general and, due to their normative character, prescribed attitudes typical of health care professionals.
Final considerations:
The findings show that, despite the advances in the health area regarding the treatment of AIDS, prejudice still persists. It is important to strengthen interdisciplinary actions focused on discussions on this theme during training, favoring the comprehensiveness of the assistance.

Objective:
To evaluate the antioxidant action of N-acetylcysteine and diosmin-hesperidin in an experimental model of sepsis-induced acute kidney injury in rats.
Methods:
The study used 20 Wistar adult male rats divided into the following groups: control (laparotomy with no induction of abdominal sepsis), sepsis (experimental model of sepsis with cecal ligation and puncture), N-acetylcysteine + sepsis and diosmin-hesperidin + sepsis. The evaluation contemplated physiological parameters (temperature, glycemia, and average blood pressure), kidney function (creatinine clearance), oxidative stress (urinary peroxides) and kidney histology.
Results:
The animals submitted to cecal ligation and puncture (sepsis) presented lower body temperature, lower average blood pressure, reduced creatinine clearance and increased urinary hydrogen peroxide levels. Treatment with diosmin-hesperidin improved kidney function and led to a reduction in the excretion of oxidative metabolites.
Conclusion:
The present study highlighted the protective antioxidant action of diosmin-hesperidin in the experimental model of sepsis-induced acute kidney injury.

Objective:
To adapt and validate the Patient Activation Measure (PAM22) in a sample of Brazilians with chronic diseases under outpatient monitoring.
Method:
Adaptation process comprises translation, back translation, analysis by a committee of judges, semantic analysis, and pre-test. Psychometric validation was performed with 513 individuals. Construct validity was analyzed through Pearson’s correlation, Student’s t-test and Structural Equation Modeling; reliability was assessed by the intraclass correlation coefficient and Cronbach’s Alpha.
Results:
The internal consistency was adequate and test-retest reliability was low to moderate (p < 0.05). Validity evidence was found on the convergent construct, with statistically significant correlations between measures of activation, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and health status. The one-dimensionality of the theoretical model was not confirmed in the adapted version.
Conclusion:
Results have shown that the adapted version is reliable and valid, although the theoretical model cannot be explained in a single dimension.
