    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to identify the multidisciplinary health team’s perception on aspects of the physical and emotional development of children and adolescents who have suffered sexual violence.

    Methods:

a qualitative study, carried out with 30 health professionals in a hospital in Bahia, Brazil, between June and July 2019. Data were collected from an interview guided by a semi-structured questionnaire. The results were interpreted according to Symbolic Interactionism.

    Results:

some sexually violated children were under five years old and healthy, others had physical/mental disabilities. Victimized adolescents were in the pre-pubertal phase, with fragile body structure, not emotionally mature and unaware of sexuality.

    Final considerations:

children’s physical and emotional aspects make children vulnerable to sexual victimization, as they facilitate the control and dominion that offenders need to have over them. As a protection strategy, it is recommended using sexual and health education linked to greater surveillance of family members, multidisciplinary team and educators.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to identify and analyze nurses’ patterns of knowing and experiences with the preparation of families for disclosure to children living with HIV seropositivity.

    Methods:

thirteen pediatric nurses from Rio de Janeiro participated in the research using the sensitive creative method. Data were treated with Orlandi’s discourse analysis and Carper’s patterns of knowing.

    Results:

nurses’ speeches revealed socioculturally constructed imaginary and ideological formations. The personal pattern of knowing, under the influence of negative media about the disease in the 1980s, generated stigma and prejudice. Empirical, esthetic, and ethical patterns were built on training and professional practice of the 1990s-2010s. They composed a context of (in)security about competence, to contribute to preparing families to disclose HIV to children.

    Final Considerations:

nurses’ experience demonstrates knowledge to intervene and many challenges for their practical appropriation.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

To analyze the prevalence and factors associated with non-communicable chronic diseases in deaf people.

    Methods:

Cross-sectional study with 110 deaf people in Maringá-Paraná, selected using the snowball sampling technique. Data were collected from February to August 2019, using a structured instrument; and, in the analysis, multiple logistic regression was used.

    Results:

The self-reported prevalence of chronic diseases was 43.6%, the most frequent being: arterial hypertension (12.7%), depression (6.4%), diabetes mellitus (5.4%), respiratory disease (5.4%) and hypothyroidism (4.5%). Using health services for routine consultations was significantly associated with being bimodal bilingual. The only risk behavior significantly associated with chronic disease was excessive consumption of sweet foods.

    Conclusion:

The prevalence of chronic diseases in this population may be higher than that found, as there is a possibility of underdiagnosis due to the low demand for routine consultations and the difficulty of communication with health professionals.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to assess the lifestyle and adherence to antiretrovirals in people living with HIV (PLHIV) in the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Methods:

a cross-sectional study, through telephone interview to 150 patients, using a sociodemographic, epidemiological and clinical form, and questionnaires to assess lifestyle profile and adherence to antiretrovirals. Statistics analysis used Fisher’s exact test, odds ratio and 95% confidence interval.

    Results:

most patients had a satisfactory lifestyle (121; 80.7%) and adequate adherence to antiretrovirals (133; 88.7%). All were in social isolation, without follow-up appointments, with access to the health service only to receive antiretrovirals, and 16 (10.7%) had COVID-19 infection. Evangelicals (p=0.002), Spiritists (p=0.045), patients using atazanavir (p=0.0001) and ritonavir (p=0.002) had a more unsatisfactory lifestyle. Adherence to antiretrovirals was more inadequate in female patients (p=0.009), with two (p=0.004) and three or more children (p=0.006), retired (p=0.029), with serodiscordant partner (p=0.046) and diagnosis time of 5 to 10 years (p=0.027).

    Conclusions:

the most PLHIV had a satisfactory lifestyle and adequate adherence to antiretrovirals, but some groups needed intervention to improve medication adherence and lifestyle.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to report on the creation and implementation of telehealth activities developed by the Forest Health Program in communities in conservation areas, in the state of Amazonas, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Methods:

this is an experience report on the creation and implementation of the program.

    Results:

the project began in June 2021 with medical and nursing services and currently has 63 points of connectivity installed. Dermatology was the most requested specialty (30.1%), with dermatitis being the main grievance diagnosed. For nursing, the most requested specialty was obstetrics, followed by pediatrics. Rio Madeira and the Catuá-Ipixema Extractive Reserve requested more than half of all consultations.

    Conclusion:

this project showed a differentiated performance of telehealth in riverside communities in Amazonas, especially in the pandemic context, expanding health care in remote areas, such as these.
