Objective:
to identify the social representations about the concepts of spirituality and religion of of health teachers.
Method:
exploratory and descriptive study, based on a qualitative approach. 25 subjects participated in it. The following instruments were used to collect data: questionnaire to identify the profile; questionnaire of free association, whose inducing words were religion and spirituality, and an interview based on the scale FICA (Puchalski, 2006).
Results:
the representations about religion and spirituality, for professors, are forged around the faith in God and it gives them meaning and purpose to deal with the challenges of personal and professional living.
Conclusion:
there are still barriers that need to be overcome with a view to a comprehensive care. For this, it is essential to incorporate spirituality in the process in the curricula of health courses.

Objective:
identify the prevalence and factors associated with smoking in tobacco growers.
Method:
descriptive, cross-sectional research. Data collection occurred in 2012 through household survey and interviews, including application of a structured instrument and scale Fargeström.
Results:
there were 100 growers included, average age of 46,9 ± 10,8 years; 90(90%) married; 72(72%) white, average family composition 3,7±1,1 people; median number of children 3(1-3), and the average study time 6±2,5. The prevalence of smoking among tobacco growers was 17%, which had less education (p=0.010) and fewer people in the household (p=0.049).
Conclusion:
the prevalence of smoking among tobacco growers was higher than the national average, but the nicotine dependence was low, which can facilitate the smoking cessation process. Highlights the need to implement a program to control smoking among tobacco growers.

Objective:
to understand the meaning attributed by the family to its experience in the recovery process of a child affected by an acute disease after discharge, and to develop a theoretical model of this experience. Symbolic interactionism was adopted as a theoretical reference, and grounded theory was adopted as a methodological reference.
Method:
data were collected through interviews and participant observation with 11 families, totaling 15 interviews. A theoretical model consisting of two interactive phenomena was formulated from the analysis: Mobilizing to restore functional balance and Suffering from the possibility of a child’s readmission.
Results:
the family remains alert to identify early changes in the child’s health, in an attempt to avoid rehospitalization.
Conclusion:
the effects of the disease and hospitalization continue to manifest in family functioning, causing suffering even after the child’s discharge and recovery.

Objective:
to know the beliefs of older adults about their vulnerability to HIV/Aids, and to identify nursing diagnoses.
Method:
a field research implemented in Family Health Units, in João Pessoa, Brazil. The sample included 250 older adults of both genders with data collected from April to July of 2011. A Test of Free Word Association was applied using the term HIV/Aids. A content analysis and cross-mapping of the most frequent terms with the International Classification for Nursing Practice, 2011 were performed.
Results:
202 terms were identified in terms, with an overall frequency of 1156. Of the 202 terms, 16 were more frequent and were used to construct the nursing diagnoses. The diagnoses identified were knowledge about appropriate sexual behavior, ability for partial protection, fear of death and hopelessness.
Conclusion:
understanding these beliefs drew from knowledge about factors related to, vulnerability to HIV/Aids aimed at planning health care actions for this population segment.

Objectives:
to analyze nurses’ professional militancy in the institutionality field, presented by the printed media from Bahia State in the 1970s and 1980s.
Methods:
a historical and qualitative research under Social History’s perspective, whose data source was the newspaper A Tarde. The temporal cut-off encompasses milestones such as professional body restructuring and creation.
Results:
the Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem democratization movement was reported in a superficial way, highlighting the struggle for power spaces. With respect to Conselhos Federal e Regional de Enfermagem daBahia, the newspaper notified creation and function of bodies, however, there was no visibility to the newspaper’s performance. Concerning the union, there was political fragility of nurses against the creation and union participation in the fight for labor rights.
Final Considerations:
organization of political action occurred from isolated groups mobilization of professionals who were already traveling in political spaces, not the large mass of professionals.

Objectives:
to understand the experience of rural families living with advanced cancer, from Family Management Style Framework’s perspective.
Methods:
a qualitative research conducted in seven cities of the northern of state of Rio Grande do Sul in homes of 11 families (27 people). Data collection took place in 2014, using the genogram and narrative interview. Analysis followed Family Management Style Framework’s theoretical model.
Results:
the results were organized into three categories based on conceptual components of the referred model: no more normal life: situation definition; attempt to reconcile care and work: management behavior; imminence of the finitude of life: perception of consequences.
Final Considerations:
living in rural context gives families specific ways of dealing with advanced cancer. Understanding the movements undertaken by rural families throughout the experience can guide nursing professionals in planning interventions collaborating with this population’s health.

Objectives:
to analyze predictive factors for the incidence of complications related to peripheral venous catheters in children and adolescents with cancer.
Methods:
a longitudinal follow-up study, conducted at a pediatric oncology clinic unit of a hospital in Bahia, with 333 peripheral venous catheters inserted in 77 children and 26 adolescents. Data collection took place between April 2015 and December 2016 through direct observation of peripheral intravenous catheter insertion, medical record data collection and daily observation of the puncture site.
Results:
the incidence of complications was 18.6%. The modeling of the variables confirmed that the risk factors for complications in children/adolescents with cancer were: prolonged peripheral intravenous therapy (p=0.002), history of complications (p=0.000), non-irritating/vesicant medications (p=0.003) and vesicant solutions (p=0.000).
Conclusions:
the goal has been achieved. Results can contribute to the theoretical, practical and social context.

Objectives:
to compare the effectiveness of the decentralized automated drug dispensing system with pockets.
Methods:
an effectiveness study based on a systematic review guided by the question: for patients admitted to hospital units, is the use of automated drug dispensing effective for reducing medication errors when compared to manual unit dose dispensing? The evidence was evaluated by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses instrument, used in the report.
Results:
the sample was composed of 15 studies and none of them directly compared both technologies; however, the meta-analysis showed that there is no difference in effectiveness between them [OR 1.03 95%CI (0,12 – 8,99)].
Conclusions:
the conclusion is that the recommendation in favor of the automated dispensing system is weak.

Objectives:
to analyze the systems and signs in the constitution of militant nurses.
Methods:
a historical and qualitative research based on oral history carried out with 11 nurses who had been working in the professional field since 1980. Data collected from semi-structured interviews were organized into NVivo software 10, being analyzed through dialectical hermeneutics.
Results:
systems and signs are systems that allow us to use senses, symbols or meaning to objectify and subjectivate the subject. The revealed senses were categorized and divided into improper, religious, heroic, communist, and socially involved.
Conclusions:
militancy signs are convergent with what is put in national and international literature. The difference found was in the heroic sense and implicated with the social. Militant is almost never associated with positive aspects. An individual who builds himself as a political being empowers himself as a social being, making knowledge of power, generating a break in traditional models.

Objectives:
to analyze the scientific productions about the history of graduate studies in Brazilian nursing in the light of Eliot Freidson’s Sociology of the Professions.
Methods:
an integrative review, carried out in the databases indexed in Virtual Health Library. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses recommendations were followed. Thematic content analysis and Eliot Freidson’s concepts were adopted.
Results:
two categories emerged: “Institutionalization of graduate courses in Brazilian nursing”, highlighting the historical process of professionalization in nursing through transition from empirical to professional care, subsidized by the monopoly of the construction of one’s own knowledge; “The scientific production of graduate nursing in Brazil”, showing the strengthening of a new generation of nurse researchers, given the greater scientificity in teaching due to implementation of graduate studies.
Final Considerations:
the analyzes present the historicity of graduate studies’ institutionalization, supporting the understanding of professionalization outlines of Brazilian nursing.

Objective:
to analyze the knowledge and practices of nursing professionals in caring for people with colostomy bag.
Method:
a qualitative and descriptive study conducted with 21 nursing professionals from a General Surgery Unit. Data collection used triangulation of techniques, based on non-participant observation, analysis of nursing records, and semi-structured interviews. Analysis followed the spiral technique assumptions.
Results:
it was possible to comprehend the theoretical and scientific knowledge that subsidize practice; identify contradictions related to statement and care in the profession’s daily work and the intervening factors, which can facilitate and/or make the nursing care process difficult.
Final Considerations:
knowledge and practices of professionals in caring for ostomates occur within work experiences, in which socialization of knowledge makes it possible to expand the perspectives of care.

Objectives:
to discuss challenges and possibilities for the construction of Environmental Health emancipatory care practices by the nurse.
Methods:
reflective analysis based on conceptual, theoretical, and methodological aspects of nursing care, under the emancipatory and critical perspective.
Results:
contemporary environmental issues involve complex determinants of the health-disease process. This fact requires the accomplishment of educative actions that encourage the change of environmental attitudes related to health-risk situations. In this sense, there are significant demands for emancipatory practices of primary care in Environmental Health by nurses, which need to be systematized by health and education institutions.
Final considerations:
the nurse, as an educator and social actor, should offer emancipatory practices of risk management, empowerment, and shared social and environmental responsibility, with a view to recovering an ecological well-being and social transformation, to improve environmental quality and human life.

Objective:
To analyze the playful educational interventions in the knowledge of schoolchildren about intestinal parasitosis.
Method:
This is a quasi-experimental, non-randomized study, based on pre- and post-intervention, conducted in a public elementary school in a peripheric neighborhood in the city of Ribeirão Preto (SP). The study population consisted of 101 students enrolled in the 5th and 6th grade. For comparison, we used the generalized version of the McNemar chi-squared test.
Results:
Of the 101 schoolchildren who participated in the study, 48 (47.5%) were female and 53 (52.5%) were male, aged from 9 to 14 years. Students’ knowledge on intestinal parasitic infections has increased significantly after the playful educational intervention.
Conclusion:
Playful educational interventions are an excellent didactical resource in the teaching-learning process of schoolchildren.

Objective:
to identify self-care deficits in women with leg ulcers and sickle cell disease.
Method:
a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory approach with 14 women. The collection was performed from December 2015 to January 2016, while the analysis was supported by Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory.
Results:
self-care requirements are not fully met. The following were identified as universal: balance between loneliness and social interaction, rest and proper nutrition; development: inability to perform work, abrupt changes in the environment due to hospitalization, educational deprivation and dropout; health deviations: ulcer recurrences, pain, changes in skin appearance and gait changes.
Conclusion:
nursing care for women with leg ulcers and sickle cell disease requires planned actions for comprehensive care.
