Objective:
to characterize the patients’ anxiety in the preoperative period of heart surgery.
Method:
We conducted a cross-sectional study in which 106 patients, between one and five days from the date of surgery, were interviewed using a socio-demographic questionnaire and the Beck Anxiety Inventory.
Results:
The evaluated patients accounted for 59.4% (63) in minimal anxiety and 19.8% (21) in the range considered severe, and the sample had a mean in the mild anxiety level (15.8±19.79). The women had scores (22.13±23.41) significantly (p=0.003) higher than men (10.76±14.71); as well as patients who had undergone previous heart surgery (24.4±28.05 X 13.14±15.74). There was no significant difference between older adults and younger patients, nor in terms of weight variations, presence of diabetes, or alcoholism.
Conclusion:
We reinforces the importance of nurses in recognizing the preoperative anxiety and intervene through strategies of health education and nursing visits.

Objective:
to determine the prevalence of motorcycle accidents involving motorcycle taxi drivers and associated factors.
Method:
this is a cross-sectional and exploratory study, with application of questionnaires to motorcycle taxi drivers of 32 regions of Caicó, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil (N=420).
Results:
motorcycle taxi drivers have a high level of daily working hours (12 hours on average), and it was found that 63.6% were involved in at least one motorcycling accident. The occurence of motorcycling accidents was significantly associated only to level of education (p<0.001), with no significant association with the other variables, such as age (p=0.132), time of service (p=0.744) and working hours (p=0.830).
Conclusion:
it is necessary to implement preventive and educational actions with motorcycle taxi drivers and users of this service concerning accidents and emergency measures, due to constant exposure to accidents during work routine.

Objective:
to assess cognitive functions and their association with quality of life among elderly people enrolled in a Family Health Unit (FHU) of Primary Health Care in Recife-PE.
Methods:
a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study in which elderly aged 60 years and over were studied.
Results:
76.7% of the elderly were women and the age group was less than or equal to 70 years. 68.6% had cognitive impairment, and in the quality of life assessment it was found that the social participation facet had the highest mean score among the elderly (14.25), while the lowest was observed in the sensory functioning facet (9.10). There was an association between cognitive decline and quality of life.
Conclusion:
most of the elderly had good quality of life rates, but low cognitive level. Using screening tools allows early detection of health problems, guiding the nursing staff in the construction of preventive measures.

Objective:
to analyze the effectiveness of skin protectors and Calendula officinalis for prevention and treatment of radiodermatitis.
Method:
an integrative review conducted at CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Embase, MEDLINE/PubMed, IBECS, LILACS, and Web of Science. The final sample consisted of five studies, four clinical studies and one preclinical. Critical appreciation and narrative synthesis of the findings were carried out.
Results:
the Cavilon™ skin protector was more effective than Sorbolene (cream with 10% glycerin) and less effective than Mometasone Furoate cream. Calendula officinalis was more effective than Trolamine and essential fatty acids and less effective than Ching Wan Hung® for prevention and treatment of radiodermatitis.
Conclusion:
data confirm the potential of Calendula officinalis for prevention and treatment of radiodermatitis and point to promising results regarding skin protector use; however, there is a need for further testing as to the effectiveness of such products.

Objective:
Develop and validate a leaflet to guide health professionals in preventive measures related to injuries caused by the use of personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods:
For the construction of the brochure, an integrative review was carried out in the main databases. The evaluation of the leaflet was made by 59 health professionals (nurses, physiotherapists, and doctors), using the Delphi technique.
Results:
In the first evaluation cycle, the items in the brochure were considered by the judges to be “inadequate” to “adequate”; the Content Validity Index was 0.80-1.0. After the adjustments suggested by the judges were implemented, the leaflet was sent back to the second evaluation cycle, in which all items were considered “adequate”, resulting in a Content Validity Index of 1.0.
Conclusion:
The developed brochure has content validity and can assist health professionals in preventing injuries caused by the use of personal protective equipment the developed brochure has content validity and can assist health professionals in preventing injuries caused by the use of personal protective equipment.

Objective:
Describe the knowledge and practices of the Primary Health Care nurse on sarcopenia screening in the elderly.
Methods:
Qualitative study conducted with 24 Primary Health Care nurses. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews, recorded and later transcribed. The speeches were grouped in thematic categories, later analyzed, supported by Paulo Freire’s reference.
Results:
The findings showed that the primary care nurses’ knowledge of sarcopenia screening in the elderly was incipient and fragile. This reality is reflected in a gap in practice, although some instruments already require the registration of characteristics indicative of sarcopenia, such as the evaluation of the calf circumference.
Final Considerations:
The need to train nurses to perform sarcopenia screening and to implement a promotional and preventive care plan, which will result in improving the quality of life of the elderly assisted in Primary Care, was highlighted.
