    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to understand the meanings and significance attributed by people with HIV/aids to the process of living with this virus/disease.

    Methods:

qualitative and exploratory study, carried out in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Grounded Theory and the Symbolic Interactionism were used. Data were collected in a semistructured interview and through non-participant observation, from August 2017 to May 2018. 29 patients participated.

    Results:

living with HIV/AIDS is a social phenomenon in which it is not possible to disconnect the process of adapting to the disease from the social relations one (re)constructs during life. It also involves stigmatization, rejection, and isolation.

    Final Considerations:

understanding the meanings of this process is a positive influence for proactive behavior and resilience, not only in regard to the care concerning the presence of the virus and the uninterrupted need to adhere to medication, but also in the way to deal with the social values that reproduce previous models, which, in turn, can help improve self-knowledge.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to elaborate an e-book about children and adolescents’ rights and duties concerning diabetes in schools.

    Methods:

we developed this methodological study in nine steps: Creation process definition, bibliographic survey, e-book elaboration, readability and apprehensibility examination, illustration, committee of judges and targeted audience validation (students’ moms with diabetes and school staff), experts’ meetings and final discussion. We have considered acceptable the Content Validity Coefficient minimum of 0.80.

    Results:

we obtained an average Content Validity Coefficient of 0,97 for clarity and relevance, and the images had 94% approval. In the face-to-face test, the targeted audience have considered the material clear and adequate to the intended purpose. Conclusions: the e-book was elaborated and validated regarding the content and relevance, and may be used to instruct the population about diabetes’ laws in schools.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to understanding the perception of Primary Health Care users about the professional identity of nurse.

    Methods:

this is an exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional and quantitative study, using the STROBE instrument. The sample included 94 users grouped according to the Family Health Strategy coverage.

    Results:

the idealized identity of nurses dates back to the past of the profession. The subjects, in 81.9%, associate the female gender to the profession. 63.8% of them believed that the nurse is a subordinate, and from these, 90% believed they were subordinate to physicians. The analysis of the perception of the activities under responsibility of the nurse showed the predominance of assistance activities that are not exclusive to them. Conclusions: the findings indicate partial awareness about the identity and the role of nurses in Primary Health Care. The main deficits are related to the competences of this professional. The understanding of the role of the nurse was higher in the population under the coverage of the Family Health Strategy.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to evaluate the effect of music applied within ten and 15 minutes, combined with swaddling, on behavioral (facial action) and physiological (heart rate) responses to pain in full-term newborns, before and during venipuncture for blood sampling.

    Methods:

a randomized, triple-blind, clinical trial with 52 rooming in infants randomly assigned to four groups of 13: Experimental 1 (music [ten minutes] plus swaddling), Experimental 2 (music [15 minutes] plus swaddling), Control 1 (no music [ten minutes] plus swaddling), and Control 2 (no music [15 minutes] plus swaddling). Pain was measured using the Neonatal Facial Coding System in the basal and procedural moments.

    Results:

experimental 2 group showed high pain absence (p < 0.05); low heart rate mean (p < 0.0001) in the basal and procedural (antisepsis, puncture, blood squeezing/aspiration, compression) moments.

    Conclusions:

neonates who listened to 15 minutes of music plus swaddling showed a greater absence of facial pain actions.
