Objective:
to validate the content of a Standard Operational Procedure, regarding nursing interventions in emergency patients treated with vasoactive drugs.
Method:
methodological study, carried out from December 2015 to January 2016. Content validity was determined by 16 experts (13 nurses, 2 pharmacists and one biomedical scientist), who judged it through a four-point Likert scale. The items were evaluated in terms of: feasibility, objectivity, simplicity, clearness, pertinence and accuracy. The Content Validity Index was applied, accepting the value ≥ 0.90.
Results:
two rounds of evaluation were required to achieve the minimum index. The items were reviewed regarding writing, dilution, indication and replacement interval. The instrument was validated with 33 items and with total Content Validity Index of 0.99.
Conclusion:
the instrument was considered appropriate, fractionally and globally, for nursing care for the patient treated with vasoactive drugs in emergency, in a safe and reliable way.

Objective:
to understand the elements composing intersubjective recognition that are relevant for nursing care in early childhood in favor of comprehensive child development.
Method:
reflexive study based on the Honnethian concept of intersubjective recognition in the dimensions of affection, defense of rights, and social esteem.
Results:
nursing knowledge and practices, permeated by the intersubjective recognition in the mentioned dimensions, contribute to the dynamism of interpersonal relations, the production of co-responsibility, and shared construction of health care in early childhood, with benefits to comprehensive development.
Conclusion:
a successful coordination of the three intersubjective dimensions enables the expansion of the understanding on childhood and nursing care in child health in the field of human development promotion, covering affection, defense of rights, and social esteem in the established relationships with future positive individual and social possibilities.

Hand hygiene represents a fundamental nursing care practice and is traditionally considered the most important and effective measure in the prevention and control of healthcare-related infections. However, studies indicate that adherence to the procedure is unsatisfactory throughout the world, and show low adherence rates. In a context in which patient safety stands out as a priority, this text submits refl ections about professional responsibility when not adhering to hand hygiene practices, and ethical aspects related to this conduct.

The aim of this study is to explore arguments that broaden the understanding of possible links between the organization of nursing care and the structuring of professional identity. For that purpose, some aspects related to these themes are addressed, highlighting issues regarding differences in the concepts of the organization of nursing care and the nursing process, as well as the performance of this activity and its possible impact on the establishment of its relationship with the professional identity. Emphasis is given to the need to stimulate the debate on the subject by nursing professionals involved in the training of human resources and the provision of care, as well as in class entities, in order to deepen understanding of these concepts as significant elements for strengthening our professional identity.

Reflection on the limits and potentialities of a Brazilian method for the development of terminological subsets of ICNP®,(International Classification for Nursing Practice) based on the correlation between this method and international methods. This issue has been debated by the International Council of Nurses (ICN). Although the council propose a guideline for elaboration, they encourage and reinforce the use of various perspectives and processes in the development of subsets. Brazilian Nursing needs to propose a method and deepen reflections on the use of terminological subsets of ICNP® in the reality of the country. The development of subsets in Brazil is considered incipient and the proposed method needs to be used and deepened in order to spread the use of terminology through the application of subsets.

Objectives:
to analyze nurses’ professional militancy in the institutionality field, presented by the printed media from Bahia State in the 1970s and 1980s.
Methods:
a historical and qualitative research under Social History’s perspective, whose data source was the newspaper A Tarde. The temporal cut-off encompasses milestones such as professional body restructuring and creation.
Results:
the Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem democratization movement was reported in a superficial way, highlighting the struggle for power spaces. With respect to Conselhos Federal e Regional de Enfermagem daBahia, the newspaper notified creation and function of bodies, however, there was no visibility to the newspaper’s performance. Concerning the union, there was political fragility of nurses against the creation and union participation in the fight for labor rights.
Final Considerations:
organization of political action occurred from isolated groups mobilization of professionals who were already traveling in political spaces, not the large mass of professionals.

Objectives:
to understand the experience of rural families living with advanced cancer, from Family Management Style Framework’s perspective.
Methods:
a qualitative research conducted in seven cities of the northern of state of Rio Grande do Sul in homes of 11 families (27 people). Data collection took place in 2014, using the genogram and narrative interview. Analysis followed Family Management Style Framework’s theoretical model.
Results:
the results were organized into three categories based on conceptual components of the referred model: no more normal life: situation definition; attempt to reconcile care and work: management behavior; imminence of the finitude of life: perception of consequences.
Final Considerations:
living in rural context gives families specific ways of dealing with advanced cancer. Understanding the movements undertaken by rural families throughout the experience can guide nursing professionals in planning interventions collaborating with this population’s health.

Objectives:
to analyze predictive factors for the incidence of complications related to peripheral venous catheters in children and adolescents with cancer.
Methods:
a longitudinal follow-up study, conducted at a pediatric oncology clinic unit of a hospital in Bahia, with 333 peripheral venous catheters inserted in 77 children and 26 adolescents. Data collection took place between April 2015 and December 2016 through direct observation of peripheral intravenous catheter insertion, medical record data collection and daily observation of the puncture site.
Results:
the incidence of complications was 18.6%. The modeling of the variables confirmed that the risk factors for complications in children/adolescents with cancer were: prolonged peripheral intravenous therapy (p=0.002), history of complications (p=0.000), non-irritating/vesicant medications (p=0.003) and vesicant solutions (p=0.000).
Conclusions:
the goal has been achieved. Results can contribute to the theoretical, practical and social context.

Objectives:
to compare the effectiveness of the decentralized automated drug dispensing system with pockets.
Methods:
an effectiveness study based on a systematic review guided by the question: for patients admitted to hospital units, is the use of automated drug dispensing effective for reducing medication errors when compared to manual unit dose dispensing? The evidence was evaluated by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses instrument, used in the report.
Results:
the sample was composed of 15 studies and none of them directly compared both technologies; however, the meta-analysis showed that there is no difference in effectiveness between them [OR 1.03 95%CI (0,12 – 8,99)].
Conclusions:
the conclusion is that the recommendation in favor of the automated dispensing system is weak.

Objectives:
to analyze the systems and signs in the constitution of militant nurses.
Methods:
a historical and qualitative research based on oral history carried out with 11 nurses who had been working in the professional field since 1980. Data collected from semi-structured interviews were organized into NVivo software 10, being analyzed through dialectical hermeneutics.
Results:
systems and signs are systems that allow us to use senses, symbols or meaning to objectify and subjectivate the subject. The revealed senses were categorized and divided into improper, religious, heroic, communist, and socially involved.
Conclusions:
militancy signs are convergent with what is put in national and international literature. The difference found was in the heroic sense and implicated with the social. Militant is almost never associated with positive aspects. An individual who builds himself as a political being empowers himself as a social being, making knowledge of power, generating a break in traditional models.

Objective:
to identify workloads in nursing work and its association with nursing worker burnout.
Method:
a cross-sectional study, including 211 nursing workers from a university hospital, between July and August 2016. For the analysis, the descriptive statistics, Chi-Square Test, Fisher’s Exact Test and Mann Whitney U-Test were used.
Results:
the most evidenced loads were biological. A significant association was found between workloads and workers’ occupation, as well as a significant association between workloads and worker burnout. Burnout caused upper limb pain, neck and lumbar pain, lower limb pain, muscle spasm, lower limb edema, mental fatigue, headache, nervousness, and forgetfulness.
Conclusion:
workloads identification is a subsidy for the promotion of interventions that minimize the burnout generated to the health of the nursing worker.

A concept analysis, according to the method proposed by Walker and Avant, operationalized through integrative review through search in scientific data portals using the
Descriptors:
Health vulnerability, aged, health services for the aged, health of the elderly, vulnerable populations and geriatric health services. To compose the literary corpus, 36 studies were selected.
Results:
Concept antecedents, as well as its attributes, were identified in individual, social and programmatic characteristics, which make up the characteristics of “vulnerability of the elderly”, besides consequences of the phenomenon. These characteristics were analyzed with emphasis on aspects that contribute to the process of vulnerability of the elderly.
Conclusion:
The study demonstrated the multidimensionality of the phenomena studied, highlighting the peculiarities of vulnerability during aging. However, there is a need for further studies on the construct.

Objective:
To determine the prevalence and risk factors for incontinence-associated dermatitis in the elderly.
Method:
Cross-sectional exploratory study carried out in public hospitals. The dermatitis prevalence and associations were obtained by calculating the ratio. The effect dimension was estimated by the odds ratio with a 95% confidence interval and statistical significance p <0.05.
Results:
138 elderly people were included, with an average age of 77.2 years old (± 9.3); 69 (50%) had combined fecal and urinary incontinence. The dermatitis prevalence was 36.2% (50); 28% (14) had pressure injuries; 14% (7), candidiasis. Risk factors were: longer hospital stay (Odds Ratio = 5.8 [2.6-12.9]), obesity (Odds Ratio = 3.6 [1.2-10.4]), high level of dependence (Odds Ratio = 2.4 [1,1-5,0]) and high risk for pressure injury (Odds Ratio = 6.1 [1,4-26,9]).
Conclusion:
The study found a high prevalence of dermatitis associated with incontinence. The early recognition of risk factors favors effective preventive actions.

Objective:
to investigate the association between frailty, loneliness and depressive symptoms of elderly caregivers.
Method:
a cross – sectional study carried out with 341 elderly caregivers enrolled in Family Health Units of a city in the countryside of São Paulo State. The interviews were domiciliary and included questionnaire for characterization of the caregiver, Fried’s frailty phenotype, family APGAR (family functionality), Geriatric Depression Scale (depressive symptoms) and item 3 of the Herth Hope Scale (loneliness). Logistic regression was used to analyze the association between depressive symptoms and solitude (independent variables), and frailty and pre-frailty (dependent variables).
Results:
there was an association between frailty, loneliness and depressive symptoms. Elderly caregivers had increased odds of 158% presenting pre-frailty, and 360% of frailty. Elderly caregivers with depressive symptoms had an increased chance of 242% of presenting fragility.
Conclusion:
elderly and lonely caregivers with depressive symptoms are more likely to be frail and pre-frail.
