    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to identify the prevalence and factors associated with falls in the elderly population living in rural areas.

    Method:

this is a cross-sectional study, carried out in 2014, with 820 older adults recorded in the Family Health Strategy (Estratégia Saúde da Família). The association between the reporting of falls in 12 months and their associated factors was verified by the Chi-square and Fischer’s exact tests and by multivariate logistic regression analysis.

    Results:

the majority of the sample was female (56.1%), white (90.2%) and aged 60-69 years (54.9%). The prevalence of falls was 27.9%, and being female, hypertensive and diabetic was associated to falls.

    Conclusion:

it is the responsibility of health professionals to have a closer look at the elderly who have these chronic diseases, especially within the scope of the Family Health Strategy, which works longitudinally with these patients, in addition to improving nursing care aimed at this population.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

Identify the theoretical concepts that have been used in the context of nursing care for hospitalized children.

    Methods:

Scoping review was carried out according to the PRISMA-ScR methodology. The research limitations included: primary studies dealing with the use of theoretical concepts of nursing in the provision of care to hospitalized children, access in full text, in Portuguese or English and published between 2000 and 2019. Research was carried out on grassroots platforms (EBSCOhost, PubMed, SciELO and Web of Science), gray literature and in the bibliography of selected articles.

    Results:

21 studies were found and 10 theoretical conceptions of nursing were identified, with family-centered care being the most used.

    Final considerations:

The variability of the identified theoretical conceptions is emphasized, with no evidence to support the use of one in detriment of the other. A more integrative theoretical conception, which adds care centered both on the family and the child, emerges as a research trend.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to analyze the predictors of moral harassment in nursing work in critical care units.

    Methods:

a cross-sectional study conducted in a public hospital in Fortaleza, Ceará, with 167 nursing professionals in 2016. Sociodemographic/occupational questionnaire and Negative Acts Questionnaire Revised were applied. The analysis included descriptive statistics, measures of central tendency and dispersion, as well as Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and Conover Inman U-tests for multiple comparisons.

    Results:

there was a 33% prevalence of self-perception of moral harassment, highlighting personal/professional disqualification and work-related harassment. The predictors of moral harassment included age, time working in the job and time in the unit, employment relationship and sector.

    Conclusions:

young professionals (< 30 years), cooperative, crowded in intensive care or emergency units, with less time working in the job (< 5 years) or greater time in the unit (above 10 years) are the biggest victims of moral harassment in the work of nursing in critical environments.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

Propose the concept of vulnerability of the elderly based on the Hybrid Concept Development Model.

    Method:

Methodological study with a qualitative approach, based on the theoretical-methodological framework of the Hybrid Concept Development Model. Initially, an integrative literature review was carried out, followed by empirical collection through semi-structured interviews with 12 professionals. As a method of analysis of the interviews, the Grounded Theory was used. The final analytical phase constituted the interface between theoretical and empirical evidence.

    Results:

When carrying out the theoretical survey, it became possible to outline the attributes, antecedents and consequences of the studied phenomenon. After analyzing the empirical data, two phenomena emerged: Unveiling the multiple changes arising from the human aging process; and Understanding the multiple dimensions of the elderly person’s vulnerability construct.

    Final considerations:

The vulnerability of the elderly person consists of a multifaceted construct, in which individual and collective conditions interact with each other.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to analyze the perspectives that affect the transition to exclusive palliative care for women with breast cancer.

    Methods:

qualitative, descriptive study, carried out in a public health institution in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between December 2018 and May 2019. 28 health professionals were interviewed. Content analysis was used in the thematic modality.

    Results:

the operational difficulties were linked to the fragmented physical structure, the late and unplanned nature of the referral, the ineffective communication, and the deficit of human resources. In general, women and family members resist referral because they do not know palliative care. There is no consensus among oncologists on the most appropriate time to stop systemic therapy for disease control.

    Final considerations:

the perceived difficulties configure an abrupt referral, accompanied by false hopes and, often, limited to end-of-life care.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to evaluate the quality of Primary Health Care attributes according to the characterization and perspective of women of reproductive age.

    Methods:

descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional study, with 397 women of reproductive age from six municipalities in the 16th Health Region of the state of Paraná, with variables for sociodemographic characterization and the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCATool).

    Results:

mean age, 30.43 years old, most were married, 70.2% worked outside the home and 55.5% had completed high school. The highest average score of the eight domains evaluated was “Family Guidance” and “Coordination – Integration of Care”, with averages of 5.86 and 4.89. Domains “Integrality – Services Provided” and “Community Orientation” had lower averages (3.32 and 3.76).

    Conclusions:

the study allowed tracing the characterization of the participants and identifying that the attributes of Primary Care are unsatisfactory, making it necessary to expand access to the services offered and to qualify the comprehensive care for women’s health.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to analyze the training of nurses from public and private educational institutions of the city of São Paulo from the perspective of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform.

    Methods:

a qualitative, descriptive-exploratory research, using as methodological framework documentary analysis of the pedagogical projects of the participating institutions and content analysis of the interviews carried out with mental health professors.

    Results:

it was identified that most mental health courses had insufficient workload for adequate training; theory emphasized the study of mental disorders and drug treatment; practice, in some schools, was carried out in psychiatric hospitals. There were problems that interfered with the quality of the education offered.

    Final considerations:

educational institutions still did not offer training in undergraduate nursing from the perspective of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform.
