    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to develop and validate a short guide for the protocol to user embracement with risk classification in pediatrics.

    Method:

methodological study developed in two stages: development of the guide, and face and content validation. The development involved the stratification of the protocol contents into five risk indicators according to the level of complexity; subsequently it was submitted to validation by nine experts divided in two groups: professors who were also researchers, and nurses.

    Results:

in the face validation the experts considered the 25 items of the guide clear and understandable, with agreement levels above 70%. In the content validation, 17 (68%) items were considered relevant by 88.9% of the experts. The eight items considered irrelevant were changed according to suggestions of the experts, yielding an overall content validity index of 0.98.

    Conclusion:

the study resulted in a guide for the classification of risks in pediatrics that is valid to assess children in emergency services.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to identify key components of the social learning theory in a computational tool to aid in teaching the reasoning process for the preparation of a nursing diagnosis.

    Method:

qualitative study that analyzed the statements collected through a focus group of 18 teachers and students from two Brazilian nursing schools.

    Results:

the themes were grouped into four categories related to the components of the theory and into 13 subcategories.

    Conclusion:

the meaning of learning can be extended by the teacher’s didactics and corroborated by the relationship between systematization and reasoning. To learn by doing, some prerequisites are required as is a process of motivation and qualification, which are also inherent to learning by forming an identity in the group. In the feeling of belonging to a particular group, aspects related to the profession become visible as opposed to the aspects of belonging to a community of practice of learning.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

verify if the mode of care adopted by caregivers favored functional independence recovery by elderly with and without the presence of nervous system disease and mental and behavioral disorders; and, if disease interfered with their functional independence.

    Method:

transversal study, with 12-month follow-up of 89 Brazilian elders (≥ 60 years) after proximal femoral surgery, and their family caregiver.

    Results:

the Functional Independence Measure scores decreased by 0.7 points per year of life, and in the case of presenting nervous system disease and mental and behavioral disorders, this loss amounted to 20.5 points.

    Conclusion:

The incentive to ambulate increased by 18.8 for self-care, 12.8 for self-care, and 11.5 for leisure activities on the Functional Independence Measure. Encouraging movement and ambulation, self-care and leisure activities, especially with those elderly with nervous system diseases and mental and behavioral disorders, is recommended.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to analyze the evidence available in literature on factors associated with inadequate treatment of syphilis in pregnant women.

    Methods:

an integrative review, carried out in the LILACS, CINAHL, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed and EMBASE databases, with controlled descriptors therapeutic and prenatal syphilis.

    Results:

nine publications composed the interpretative analysis, in which low education, income and maternal age, temporary lack of medication and HIV infection were associated with inadequate treatment of syphilis during pregnancy, in addition to delay or absence of prenatal care and receiving the 1st dose of penicillin, lack of tests or treatment less than 30 days before childbirth, and partners’ low compliance with treatment.

    Final Considerations:

among the main factors associated with inadequate treatment, clinical and sociodemographic aspects stand out, as well as failures in drug dispensing, prescription and monitoring of treatment of pregnant women and their partners by the health system.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to understand the vulnerabilities of older adults with physical disabilities regarding their body, physical and social environments.

    Method:

this was a qualitative study based on Alfred Schütz’ social phenomenology, with 15 older adults with physical disability from Cuiabá, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Open-ended questionnaires were administered to the participants in 2017. The units of meaning that emerged were organized into thematic categories.

    Results:

physical decline, associated with the permanence of environmental and social barriers intensified the vulnerabilities of older adults. Gaps in health services are mitigated by informal social support networks and access to work was a form of social inclusion.

    Final considerations:

vulnerabilities in the old age of persons with physical disabilities did not reside only in the body dimension, but also the physical and social environment, countering healthcare models based on the logic of reverting their dysfunctional body.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to analyze the knowledge of health professionals on the health policies for the riverside population; identify how health practices with this group are developed; and discuss facilitators and barriers for the implementation of these policies.

    Methods:

qualitative and descriptive study with 24 professionals from the Riverside Family Health Strategy Teams in the city of Belém-Pará. Data were collected in individual interviews and analyzed by Content Analysis.

    Results:

although professionals demonstrate knowledge about public health policies, there is a need to expand and strengthen knowledge about health policies for the riverside population. The activities directed to the communities took place in the Unit itself, and some did not occur due to insufficient material and human resources.

    Final Considerations:

the greatest barrier for the organization of health care is the lack of material and human resources, and the most prominent facilitator was the union and cohesion of the health team.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to propose quality indicators for clinical nursing documentation

    Methods:

methodological study in which literature review guided the composition of an instrument for evaluating nursing documentation. Two independent professionals evaluated 204 medical records of adult patients. The analysis of this assessment generated quality indicators for clinical nursing documentation. Inter-rater agreement was analyzed by Cohen’s kappa.

    Results:

the bibliographic review, analysis by experts and pre-test resulted in 88 evaluation items distributed in seven topics; in 88.5% of the items, inter-rater agreement between strong and almost perfect (k=0.61-1.0) was observed. Analysis of the evaluations generated a global indicator and seven partial indicators of documentation quality. Compliance in the two services ranged between 62.3% and 93.4%. The global indicator showed a 2.1% difference between services.

    Conclusions:

seven quality indicators of clinical nursing documentation and their method of application in hospital records have been proposed.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

To identify the nursing staff’s difficulties in providing care in psychosocial rehabilitation to CAPS users.

    Methods:

Qualitative study based on constructionism. Sixteen members of the CAPS nursing staff participated in the study in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The data collected in the interviews and observations were organized in Nvivo software and analyzed based on thematic content.

    Results:

The difficulties identified were: the territorial violence that imposes a silence to the actions of CAPS, low user education as a barrier to protagonism, impaired family adhesion, the technical-conceptual discomfort of nursing in acting in the crisis and material and human of CAPS dismantlement.

    Final considerations:

The challenges consist of overcoming staff exhaustion; however, they do not prevent nursing from betting on the possibility of protagonist care. Therefore, such care is dimensioned by the clinical-political-ethical relation in constant negotiation with the territory.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to analyze the coping of individuals in social isolation due to suspicion or confirmation of coronavirus infection from the perspective of Hildegard Peplau’s Theory of Interpersonal Relations.

    Methods:

this is a qualitative, descriptive research, carried out with 34 individuals in social isolation due to suspicion or confirmation of coronavirus infection who passed through a screening tent of a university hospital in Paraná. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews in June and July 2020. Empirical categories were interpreted by content analysis.

    Results:

four categories emerged: Distance; Social and emotional support; Self-awareness and resolution; Learning. These categories established the coping strategies.

    Conclusions:

individuals undergoing social isolation are more likely to present problems related to mental health. It was highlighted that coping strategies, motivated by nurses, anchored in Hildegard Peplau’s theoretical framework, promoted the necessary learning for promoting participants’ mental health in the face of a pandemic context.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to map Brazilian undergraduate nursing students’ critical thinking level and investigate the correlation between selected sociodemographic data and critical thinking domains.

    Methods:

in this descriptive cross-sectional study, participants’ (N=89) critical thinking was assessed using the Health Science Reasoning Test. Correlation between critical thinking domains and sociodemographic data was assessed using the Pearson correlation coefficient.

    Results:

the overall results showed a moderate level of participants’ critical thinking (mean = 70.7; standard deviation 5.7). A poor performance was identified in 5 of the 8 critical thinking domains. A significant positive correlation was found between education period and critical thinking (p<.001).

    Conclusions:

poor level in students critical thinking domains may lead to negative consequences for their learning outcomes. Further studies should be carried out to confirm our results, in addition to investigation of teaching methods that encourage and ensure the development of students’ critical thinking skills during nursing education.
