Objective:
To verify the evidence of content validity of the Identifying Issues (Identification questions) elaborated from the theoretical-logical model of the Matrix and the Profile of Professional Competence of the emergency nurse.
Method:
Descriptive and methodological study of a quantitative approach with a psychometric reference as a precursor in the elaboration of a measurement instrument for the evaluation of competencies. The study was conducted in 2013 in Brazil, with a national sample of nurses specialized in emergency services and/or with professional competence in the area. Three stages were considered: questionnaire development; data collection with Delphi, appropriate statistics for Likert; and interpretative analysis of the comments/suggestions of the analyzed issues.
Results:
Delphi was used in four stages. There were minor adjustments to the content and inclusion of a new Competence. They obtained 90% of Score Percentage and 98.61 of Content Validity Index.
Conclusion:
There was consensus among the experts and the research demonstrated evidence of content validity, suggesting pertinence and adequacy to represent the constructs of competencies.

Objective:
To identify the frequency and intensity of Moral Distress, and to analyze the associations between Moral Distress and sociodemographic and labor characteristics of the nursing team of a Hematology-Oncology.
Method:
A cross-sectional study was carried out with 46 nursing professionals from a Hematology-Oncology sector of a hospital institution in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, through the application of the Moral Distress Scale – Brazilian version. In the data analysis, descriptive statistics and nonparametric association tests were used.
Results:
Mortal Distress intensity of 3.27 (SD= 1.79) and frequency of 1.72 (SD= 1.02) were found in this team. The Moral Distress of greater intensity and frequency were related to the denial of the role of Nursing as a patient’s advocate and the disrespect to the patient’s autonomy, respectively.
Conclusion:
It is suggested a greater space for discussion among professionals, multiprofessional team and managers, so that adequate conditions of action and communication are provided.

Objective:
to analyze the process of introducing an educational intervention for the improvement of social skills in care management provided by nurses.
Method:
intervention research, according to its complexity, carried out in a South-Brazilian public university hospital. To identify learning needs, 11 nurses were interviewed and educational meetings were held with 20 participants, who evaluated with open-ended questions: what they would stop doing; what they would continue doing; and what they would start doing on the issues addressed. The data was analyzed comprehensively.
Results:
we developed 30 educational hours on social skills of communication, work, assertiveness, and other themes inherent in care management mentioned by the participants as deficient. The evaluation revealed intentions of advances in: self-monitoring, communication, empathy, assertiveness, leadership and search for knowledge. Monthly meetings on care management were formally requested by the institution.
Final considerations:
social skills are intertwined in care management relationships and their improvement has proved to be dialogical, recursive and hologrammatic.

Objective:
To analyze the professional practice models used by nurses in the hospital context.
Method:
A descriptive study with a qualitative approach was carried out in 19 hospitals with 56 nurses. Data collection was carried out by means of a semi-structured interview.
Results:
The following categories emerged from analysis: a practice focused on the management of signs and symptoms, where the biomedical model, prevention of complications, and early detection of signs and symptoms of clinical worsening stood out, and a practice based on patients’ human responses, emphasizing health promotion, self-care promotion, autonomy reconstruction, functional rehabilitation, patients’ training, preparation to return home, and facilitation of transitions.
Final considerations:
In spite of the evolution seen in some contexts, a distance between the models practiced and those presented is still found, which indicates the need for changes ensuring structuring and systematization of the professional practice.

Objectives:
to develop and evaluate the convergence of the instrument for the appearance validity of educational technologies in health.
Methods:
methodological study conducted in two steps. In step 1, the instrument items were developed, with subsequent content validity by nine specialists in the development of educational technologies in health. In step 2, the convergent validity between another instrument and the appearance instrument was performed. Correlation results above r> 0.3 and p <0.05 were considered as plausible convergent validity.
Results:
the ten items of the initial version of the appearance instrument were submitted to content validity that resulted in a final version with 12 items (Content Validity Index = 0.93). The correlation indexes were strong with the objective and appearance domains; moderate with motivation, organization and total; and weak with writing style.
Conclusions:
the appearance instrument demonstrated content validity and convergent validity, in addition to a strong correlation with the other instrument.

Objective:
to analyze burnout, its predictors and association with empathy and self-efficacy among nursing students.
Method:
cross-sectional analytical study with 284 students from five state universities in the state of Parana, Brazil. The instruments applied were: social and academic questionnaire, Maslach Burnout Inventory, Interpersonal Reactivity Index and Occupational Self-Efficacy Scale (Short Form). Spearman’s correlation and univariate and multivariate logistic analysis were used.
Results:
6.0% of the students presented high burnout, 36.3% presented high emotional exhaustion, 37.7% presented high depersonalization and 28.2% presented low personal accomplishment. The burnout predictors were: absence of physical activity; weekly workload >24 hours; low empathic concern. There were negative correlations between empathy (empathic concern and perspective taking) and depersonalization; self-efficacy and emotional exhaustion; and positive correlations between personal accomplishment and empathy and self-efficacy.
Conclusion:
Personal factors and an academic variable were burnout predictors among nursing students. The correlations suggest that self-efficacy and empathy can prevent burnout.
