Objectives:
to understand the meanings attributed to the experiences of individuals after hospitalization for COVID-19.
Methods:
qualitative study, with a theoretical framework based on Symbolic Interactionism and a methodological approach grounded in Grounded Theory. Nineteen participants who had moderate and severe forms of COVID-19 after hospitalization were interviewed. Data collection took place between April and November 2021 through online interviews, and the data were analyzed using initial and focused coding in the MAXQDA software.
Results:
the data illustrate new meanings attributed to different aspects of life after hospitalization, including relationships with others, the environment, physical and mental health, finances, identity, and interactions with a new social reality.
Conclusions:
the meanings are intrinsically linked to the value of interpersonal relationships, the perception of their impact, and the consequences after hospitalization. This allows professionals to understand the importance of this information to improve care and prepare for future epidemics.

Methods:
a qualitative study, with analysis based on the concept of accessibility. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 11 nurses who work at the Street Outreach Office in northern Brazil.
Results:
nurses are faced with geographic barriers and dangerous situations in border regions, recognizing that there is a context of physical, sexual and psychological violence that involves homeless pregnant women who seek care at the Street Outreach Office. Street Outreach Office nurses’ work occurs in conjunction with other services in the Health Care Network. The implementation of educational measures is a powerful strategy, as is establishing links with women.
Final Considerations:
the Street Outreach Office’s work provides meetings with pregnant women on site in the territory, which can provide geographic and socio-organizational accessibility to prenatal care.

Objectives:
to analyze the relationship between the nursing practice environment and hospital sociotechnical complexity as perceived by nurses.
Methods:
a sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was conducted in a hospital in southern Brazil. The Brazilian version of the Practice Environment Scale-Nursing Work Index and the Complexity Characterization Questionnaire were administered to 132 nurses. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 participants, and the data were subjected to thematic analysis. Data integration was achieved through a connection approach.
Results:
the nursing practice environment was found to be favorable, except in the subscale concerning Staffing and Resource Adequacy, where complexity was present in the activities. The three emerging categories explained human and technical aspects related to complexity in the practice environment, quality of care, and patient safety. Unexpected variability was inversely correlated with the practice environment.
Conclusions:
the study results indicate a relationship between these constructs, with implications for the quality and the safety of care.

Objective:
To analyze the influence of social incentives for adherence to tuberculosis (TB) treatment.
Method:
Qualitative study, in which 26 primary health care professionals of São Paulo were interviewed in 2015.Their testimonies were submitted to the speech analysis technique. The theoretical reference was the social determination of the health-disease process. Ethical procedures were observed.
Results:
TB is related to precarious living conditions. Incentives such as the basic food basket and transportation stipends are relevant for patients’ adherence to treatment, as well as to the create bonds between the patient and the health team.
Final considerations:
The incentives strengthened adherence to TB treatment. However, interventions in the context of public measures must transcend the remedial dimension and be guided towards the transformation of the TB situation, which means supporting processes that modify living conditions.

Objectives:
to identify and synthesize scientific evidence on the barriers and difficulties for Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) use and compliance for HIV.
Methods:
an integrative literature review, using the MEDLINE/PubMed, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Academic Search Premier and Scopus (Elsevier) databases.
Results:
all (100%) the articles included identified that PrEP users experience some type of structural barrier related to health services such as long distance from the units, suboptimal logistics for taking pills and professional resistance to prescribing PrEP. Furthermore, 63.21% identified social barriers, such as stigma about sexuality and HIV, in addition to individual barriers such as alcohol use, adverse effects, and concerns about long-term toxicity.
Conclusions:
the barriers to PrEP use are multifactorial. Effective interventions are needed to support PrEP users in accessing, complying with, and retaining health services.
