    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to understand the nurse professional identity from a vygotskian perspective and to understand its implications in the education process of nursing students.

    Methods:

theoretical-reflexive study, based on the historical-cultural approach of Lev Seminovich Vigotski.

    Results:

the perspective of human cultural development defended by Vigotski can support an understanding of nurse professional identity as a complex psychological construction, which takes into account both the elements of the historical-cultural context that circumscribes the profession and the subject, as well as the set of psychological functions, developed by the subject in personal and professional relationships.

    Final considerations:

the professional identity formation necessarily passes through the social relations that take place in formative process and it places the nursing professor in relief in the conduct of learning, which results not only in appropriations of attributes and codes, but also in students psychological development.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

to reflect on the psychosocial risks and their impacts on the health of health workers in light of the Brazilian economic context and Labor Reform.

    Method:

reflective study on the Brazilian Labor Reform and its impacts on health of health workers.

    Results:

although the changes observed in the labor sphere have contributed to improvements in health and safety policies for, these changes have also contributed to the emergence of new risks arising from work activities, including psychosocial risks, which affect all occupational categories.

    Final considerations:

we understand that the Brazilian Labor Reform carried out in 2017 leads to the weakening of labor relations, increases workers’ exposure to risks in the workplace, increases the risk of illness, and opposes the global movement of international organizations aimed at the prevention of aggravation in workers’ health and also at preserving their health.

    ABSTRACT

    Objective:

To discuss the political and structural conditions for establishing the Unified Health System (UHS – Sistema Único de Saúde, SUS) in coping with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

    Methods:

    Theoretical-reflection study.

    Results:

At the first moment named “The global and the local in facing the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic” is presented the health crisis that took place worldwide and the government actions to combat COVID-19. A second moment named “Between dismantling actions and resistance, the UHS is the best way to face the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic”, reflects on the neoliberal attacks on the health system and how it resists, remaining the main pandemic response strategy.

    Conclusion:

The strengthening of democracy and the defense of the UHS are the way out of the crisis. It is believed that this reflection generates - in everyone who deals with caretaking - the political action, the ethical attitude, the desire for valorization and the spirit of struggle in defense of the UHS and human life.

Patient safety: within the reach of the homeless?

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to reflect on aspects related to homeless patients’ safety.

    Methods:

this is a reflective theoretical essay based on patient safety theories.

    Results:

the patient safety culture has developed in the hospital care context and seeks to reduce adverse events in specific hospital settings. On the streets, there is evidence that many people suffer damage related to lack of access to health services, which contributes to undiagnosed or untreated diseases. To build the safety culture it is necessary to identify risks and errors in this scenario since health safety should not start only when hospitalizing an individual.

    Final Considerations:

public policies for this population group need to be effective, as this issue should be a priority concern in health care to prevent harm and adverse events during care delivery.

    ABSTRACT

    Objectives:

to present the concept of Knowledge Translation and Exchange as it has been used in the international literature and in Canada, particularly. Next, to describe a renowned conceptual model to guide its implementation, entitled Knowledge-to-Action Cycle.

    Results:

we described the use of the model in the context of the municipal primary health care system in southern Brazil for the implementation of pain management strategies during vaccination.

    Conclusions:

in this theoretical reflection, we argue that in order to promote health equity and quality of care in the Unified Health System (Brazilian SUS) it is important to translate scientific knowledge to various practice settings and create opportunities for exchange with users of this knowledge, such as health professionals, managers, policy makers, patients, family members and other stakeholders.
